I have still yet to recieve a form letter. Hoping my mail man will be bringing it today! I did however have my husbands recruiter check again today to make sure his address hasn't changed and he said his perm was Ship 09 Div 145 :0) So I hope to find others in this group who have loved ones in this Division. Best wishes and prayers are with you all!

Hi all,
I got the first letter today! It was a great one too - 5 pages front and back with funny drawings detailing the first week or so. It sounds like they spent a lot of time on hard concrete floors waiting for medical and other areas to do their thing. There is 86 in the division. They have lots of different uniforms for everything, including going to the bathroom (guessing that was a joke). He had good things to say about the 'badass' drill sergeants and instructors, and mentioned that he may not want to get out in four years after all. He must really like it! Which makes me happy.
Jessica,
We booked the Comfort Inn in Waukegan. They said it is very close to the base. They have a website and it looks very nice. We booked it last week. When we called they said we were the first booking for that weekend. Think we are in a hurry!! lol.
Carol
Carol,
Are you driving out or flying? I am tyring to deside if it wouldn't be better to drive up (from Mississippi) and be able to have my car to get arround. How many nights did you book for? Do you know if they will have Saturday off too and leave Sunday or if they will be leaving on Saturday?
Martha
Hi Martha,
I am flying to Chicago. I am coming from New York. I booked the room from Thursday through Sunday. I also rented a car from Enterprise. It was about $50 a day. I don't know how much of the weekend we can spend with them so I had gotten refundable airline tickets in case I had to come home early or if graduation was delayed.
Carol
Hi Martha! If you don't mind me asking, where in NY are you coming from? I live in Brooklyn and will be flying out on Thursday from LaGuardia. We didn't rent a car, figured I'd wait closer to the date. Not knowing how much time we have with our sailors is really stressing me out-but I suppose any time is enough.
Best wishes!
Meg
Hi Caroline,
So glad you got your letter today. Sounds like it was a great one. I am still waiting for mine. Hopefully tomorrow. I really like when people post little things from their letters. It makes me feel better that things are going well there.
Carol
I got my letter today. Whoo Hooo! He was volunteered as section leader. The one thing he really misses it taking his long baths. He says there is no time to take a bath. He says everyone sinks. At least they all do! LOL Anyway, he said they didn't get much sleep but did not complain about PT or anything like that, so things are good. (So far) Hope others share their notes from camp.
Well I recieved a very thick envelope last Thursday from my husband. When I opened it he has written me everyday since he had gotten there and had tried sending them everyday but wasn't allowed lol. They called him the mail dork lol. I was happy to know that he had finally gotten my mail too. The first time this division recieved mail there was 5 pieces of mail and three were from me to him. He was so excited. Anyway, found out he is a section leader, and is designing the division flag :0) He was also one of only a couple of people that held there ?bag? through the whole discipline lesson. Im proud of him and can't wait to see him again. How is everyone else and their recruits doing? Haven't seen new posts in a few days. Hope everyone is well. Best wishes to all.

I finally received mail from my guy on Saturday, the 1st, and ran as fast as I could to the mailbox with all the letters I've written. Does anyone know roughly how long it takes for our letters to get to them ( I know the website said up to 10 days but I was hoping some of you had better luck. Living in NYC, I never know how long the post takes.) Also, am I right to assume they can only send letters on Sunday? My first letter from him was huge, as he wrote a letter every day.
Meggles, I just received a letter from my son today. He dated the letter and it only took 4 days for it to get here. I am in Brooklyn so it should take about the same time for your letter. I heard that they can only send letters on Sunday.
Hi all, got a phone call from my son this afternoon!! He sounded great. I was expecting a call this weekend but was surprised to see an 847 area code call today - thank goodness I heard it (and could find it in my mess of a purse!) He said their division got their first flag today, that they finished the first phase of weapons training, that the food is 'boring', and he passed his first PT test. It was great to hear his voice and it really does seem like he's fine and likes it. He said they got their dress uniforms today and that it looks 'awesome'.
I hope others post about their calls:)
Caroline
Just got off the phone with my son too. He also sounded great. I saw pay phone and couldn't pick it up fast enough. He also sounded great. He said things are going okay. Says he met some great people there.
