Me, too!  My son called this afternoon and we talked for 35 minutes.  He is doing well and he says the DIV is doing well too.  He was telling me about the flags they have won.  They are down to about 58 SR's, I believe they started out around 80.  He passed his swimming and received his dress blues (? please forgive if I dont use the correct terms : )  He sounds good.  Starts in weaponry on Monday.

Littlefoot, I think my son knows your husband : )  Kind of nice to connect the dots..hehe

Phone call!! Oh how my heart soars when I see that 847 area code. All is well, talked for about 45 minutes. Made my day :) Everything really seems to be going well he had no complaints. Well, wanted to be home but said he was really starting to enjoy it. I'm so glad! Said they were getting more liberty and would be able to send letters more often!! Yay! Also said that we can all expect a call on Wednesday :) Keep your phones near!!!

@ Jedds What is your sons name?! I will ask him about him!

Littlefoot, I glad to hear about your call as well...my sons last name is Hofferbert...It seems that because they are doing well, they are getting to call and send letters more often...

rlmb...how was your call?

He called his wife-to-be who is staying with us, so we got a first hand report after a 41 minute call.  I talked to him very briefly too then they sounded the horn to end their calls.  He sounded great, so upbeat and positive about everything.  He also said the Chicago Bulls had sponsored.  How fun!  Surely there will be some pictures soon!  His bunk mate is also from Kansas, Wichita in fact, so hopefully the storms did not hit his family.  He irons every night. I find that very amusing!  :-)  Tentatively it sounds like he will have about a week between graduation and A school, so he will be doing various jobs at Great Lakes during that time.  We hope that we will get to see him over the weekend after graduation.  He said they were currently on day 4-4.  He is looking forward to the challenges the rest of boot camp, including the gas chamber. hmm.  He told us where to look for him in the division at graduation.  Hopefully we can spot him quickly.

Did you hear they got sponsored?! Now I can't remember for the life of me by who, but they got sponsored! They came and took a bunch of pictures of the boys so my husband said to watch for them on the facebook page :)

Yes I got a call today and yes the are sponsored by the Chicago Bulls... He said if we looked for any flags to look for that one...
I would of posted earlier but the weather has not been the best here!!!

it was a rough day and night in Kansas.  Pretty tired here this morning.  What state are you in?

Iowa just across the river from Nebraska... We had thunderstorms with a lot of rain and thankfully no tornados... We were traveling across Iowa and having to watch the weather so we didn't get caught in anything... Pretty nerve racking... Hoping you came out unscathed!!!

yes, we are in good shape.  My biggest concern is always the horses.  All I can do is take a halter and lead rope to the basement for each, and pray that I don't have to try to round up scared horses in the dark!  I agree on the nerves, too many tornadoes out there yesterday!

Wow! So nice to hear about all the calls and how everyone is doing!  I'm not familiar with the 'sponsoring' so if somone could enlighten me that would be great.  My son told me about it in his call but we talked about so much I guess I didn't understand its signifiance.  It's interesting, my first few weeks were filled with missing him, worry and waiting but now that I've received letters and spoken to him, I'm getting excited, I'm proud of his accomplishments and anxious to follow his progress through these next few weeks!

Dana and rlmb...I'm so thankful that you came thru the bad weather without incident..I live in Indiana, about 15 miles from Henryville that was hit so terribly on 3/2 so when I saw on the weather channel yesterday about the midwest, I remembered 3/2.

I'm having trouble finding the FaceBook page...
