We're booked at the Ramada Waukegan Gurnee. It's within 5 miles of the Training Center and has a pool and will accomodate 5 with a cot. Also has microwave and small fridge. We're driving from Colorado for the big day!

We are staying at the same hotel and also driving from Colorado.

YES, We're staying at the Courtyard Marriott in Waukegan/Gurnee .  Made the air reservations for four out of CT.  Next on my plan is to rent a car.  So exicited!    Anyone staying at this hotel?    Love to hear back from you all.

Yes, we are staying there too.

Residence Inn Waukegan. Liked that it was close to base and we can start racking up some marriott rewards for later stays, haha! Also, spoke with a mom who's sailor graduated couple weeks ago and they said it was nice (& quiet! Guess another hotel was rather rambunctious)

Quality Inn 1.5 miles from base.Waukegan

Red Carpet Inn 1 mile from base

Ok..guess we are all spread out..ha..we will be at Holiday Inn Express...sucker for a new hotel! Looks nice and close though and free breakfast each day...Yum!

We are staying at Ramada Waukegan.  Do any of you plan on going to Meet and Greet on Thursday?...sounds like fun!

We are going to Sarge's Meet & Greet, is that the one you are referring to?  We are at the same hotel:P

Well, they have two meet & greets, Sarge has one on the 10th as well as Ramada Inn having one.  The times overlap a bit.  I wasn't sure which one to go to.  The one that Sarge has sounds very cool...he sounds like a great guy with a wealth of information, and an enormous compassion for the Navy!

From what I understand, Sarge's meet-n-greet is FREE and open to all PIR families (a few of the hotels even have a shuttle that can take you to the Sundance Saloon for the event). It is a private event, so it's just you and others like you. There's two hotels that also do meet-n-greets (Ramada and I can't remember the other one at the moment) that offer some refreshments and such. As for the one Sarge hosts, he has plenty of food (last weekend he said he had enough for 400 people), it's a very large dance hall, so no crowding, AND he gives you all sorts of info on the area (like some great restaurants-included one where your sailor gets a free dinner the night of PIR). When available, he also brings in a guest speaker from base to give a lil insight on PIR and such. :)

Here's a link to the discussion on info for Sarge's meet-n-greet, and a link posted in the comments down below it will direct you to a discussion posted by another member about ALL three meet-n-greets (was posted when the PIR group was formed).
