This discussion is for those who have an SR in Ship 04, DIV 820 and 821,  PIR 10/14/11.   These are brother divisions and will be spending a lot of time together from what I understand.  Remember OPSEC rules and for security purposes...no pictures of your SR or names of SR.  God bless you all!

On Thursday I worked till noon and had class at 1:15 and it's a half an hour drive to my school. And I went straight home to wait for the mail and my dad was like what are you doing?! And was trying to mess with me sayin the mailman left already. haha But I stood outside in the rain and gave the mailman my letter and he gave me mine! :D One of the happiest moments of my life! And I couldn't read it right then. :/ Cause I was already late for class. It was like 12:45 when the mailman came!! And the 30min drive to school was the longest drive of my life!! And I had a quiz so I couldn't even read it when I got there!! But the 50? quiz took me 2minutes cause I was soo excited!! haha And finally read it and he made me tear up quite a bit! I read it like 20times a day and before I go to bed. :] It was amazing.

Is anyone coming to PIR with younger siblings?  We will have a 9yr old and a 13yr old. I think sometimes this is as hard on them as me that their big brother is sorta missing.  Would love to have them meet up with others.

We have a 13yr old son.  He misses his brother too.  He got his own letter today and that made him feel better.

Yes my son sent a "family" letter and talked to the other kids. They loved it.  :)  They never thought they would miss him so much.

We have a 7yr old, sounds like he may be a little young but we made sure there was a pool at the hotel too.  Like many have said, will wait and see what our SR wants to do with his free time.  His girlfriend will be coming with us to PIR so I have a feeling we will be sharing his time with her.

YAY!!!  I got another letter from my son today!!!!  I'm one happy mama!  It sounds like they are keeping our guys pretty busy.  His letter wasn't very long, but long enough for me!  :o)  He is doing well and looking forward to graduation so he can get over to BUDS prep.  Hope you all are doing well and holding up okay!!!

Hello all,

I like many of you are new also to this site and the Navy.  My son is also in 821 ship 04.  I echo all of your sentiments about waiting, wanting a letter, a call or something.  We did get our first letter today!  It was great.  We got a little bit of info on how life is going.  I am getting a lot more info from all the posts on this site.  Thanks to all who share info.  We have reservations at Homewood suites for PIR.  I too am looking forward to graduation to meet all of you as well as seeing my son.

Hey you all, got our first two letters at once today!! I'm so happy. He didn't talk about gas but that's ok by me(haha). I sure hope he won't get guard duty either. Does anyone know if they get it do they get it for the whole weekend? I sure hope not, he was being so sweet saying if it costs too much he understands but it would really be nice if one of us (there's four) could come to his PIR. I guess he didn't get the letter from us first saying that even though he said not to come to PIR because he didn't think it'd be that big of a deal, we were all definately coming!! Occasionally mom still knows best:) Love to you all!! Goodnight.
Glad so many are getting letters!  About the guard duty rumor, if they had duty it would b for a few hours, but the RDC's may have told them that because they are trying to motivate them not to be the bottem 8 or something.
I read mine in class too! And was shaking and laughing and crying! haha It was funny.

Hoping you all have a wonderful week. We are starting week #4 and getting so much closer to Oct 14th every single day!  Grateful I found this website.  :)

Just got our phone call from our SR.  It was so awesome to hear his voice. My husband and I both got on the phone to talk to him.   I didn't want to hang up, but wanted him to have time to call his sister, if he had time.  Have those phones close.  He sounded good...
