Hey everyone.  Big Big night tonite!  Hope they all work as a team!  I got a really upbeat letter from my son today.  He said they let them have an extra hour of sleep and RDC's played some awesome music.  He is really getting excited!   7 more days and I hope to meet lots of you at the meet n greet.
Just got the call from my son!!!!  He's a sailor!!!  So all of you should be hearing something soon!!!
Congratulations!!!!   I'm in tears seeing your post- anxiously waiting for my call

It's wonderful!  They are tired, but finished their ceremony where they got their sailor caps!  Woo Hoo!!!

Congratulations 349 !!!  They are ALL SAILORS now !!!  :)))))
YEH!!!  Congratulations to our SAILORS.  Justin said they all passed in 349 and thinks all of 350 did as well. :)
I could only hear maybe every third or fourth word my son was saying in between chewing .... He was stuffing his face with junk food!!  A priviledge offered to them for a job well done.  During our conversation he consumed a Slim Jim, a bag of Combo's, Gummy Bears, and God only knows what else !!!  I figure in 20 minutes he'll crash or ... he'll make a dash to the head!  He's 27 -- do boys EVER grow up???   LOL   Honestly though -- during our conversation I could definitely hear the distinct sound of maturity!  Ahhhhh .... life is good.  We're almost there ladies --- we're almost there.

Justme - that is funny!  Hope he doesn't get a bellyache!!

Got our call about 3 hours ago; we too now have a sailor (ship 11/349). Didn't hear him munching on anything but expressed need for sleep after being up for about 36 hours and has 2 a.m. watch Saturday. It was great to hear his voice and the enthusiasm he expressed while speaking. Can't believe this bootcamp sentence is almost over for the moms of PIR 10/21! Now everyone just plan well, sit tight a few more days and then have a safe and wonderful trip/time with your accomplished SAILOR! And yes, I am yelling it with pride at the top of my lungs. Best wishes! God is good.
We are some happy mommies here!!!!
Billboard,,,that is a great idea.  Let's all pitch in.  haha.  I know I have been calling, texting, facebooking...you name it!!
In today's letter to our son I encouraged him to try and get some good contact information from the fellow sailors in his division. I think it is always interesting to be able to go back weeks, months, even decades later and see where different ones ventured in their personal and career lives. My first husband was in Vietnam and I knew many of his buddies at Benning because I met so many of them on weekends when he was in bootcamp. He passed away 15 years ago, but to this day I still keep in touch with many of them and that has been so special. I suggested if (and most of them will not at the time of PIR) they did not yet have next duty station addresses, give the phone number and home address for their parents until a better address could be given. I would love to hear that many of them keep up with one another...at least those few racks to the left and right of him/herself in Ship 11/349. Maybe this coming week they will learn more of the first names of the sailors in their division. Hope everyone sleeps well tonight! I sure will if my mind doesn't start a head trip trying to cram plans for at least a week into what in  reality will only be about 9 hrs. + maybe a few more at the airport. Have a great weekend!
