There is something that is provided for the two Senior most TG's at Thanksgiving and Christmas. It is the Adopt-A-Sailor Program.
The two Senior most TG's at the time of the actual Holiday will be allowed to be adopted out by immediate Family for Christmas Day. (We believe that yours will be one.) No overnight. The Recruit will send home the Adopt-A-Sailor Form to be filled out and faxed back to RTC (the Family keeps the original to bring with them on Christmas day). The Form has to be sent back, they won't allow you to take your Recruit without it...no surprise adoptions.
Those Recruits that are not adopted out will be adopted by local civic organizations and churches for the day. They go out in large groups. Most make sure that computers and/or cell phones are available so they can call loved ones.
All Recruits from the two TG's get adopted out...none left behind.
Hello All!
Congrats on the early calls! This can happen to a few lucky Divisions early on like this :-).
If your Recruit did not take a phone card go ahead and mail one asap. They do get a phone card in their ditty bag (bag that is issued to hold a lot of their belongings) but it is most likely only good for one use.
Hi All! My son is Ship 11, Div 056. He called today!! What a great surprise! Thank goodness I wasn't at work! He sounded well, although a little tired. He's bragging about his cool camo, since he knows I love it.
Claudia- did your daughter take a phone card? My didn't so I'm worried he won't be able to call. I'm mailing him one today.
By the way, its so nice to meet you all! This is an awesome way to support each other!
I read a comment that someone plans to see their recruit on Christmas. Does anybody know anything about this? We are only 5 hours away so we could definitely make that drive!
Thrilled to be able to talk to my son (ship 03 div 051) today! It was great to hear a lot of the recruits have already received letters from home. Hope mine start arriving soon!
Hello! My son left 11/12 and will graduate on 1/9! He is in ship 03 div 052. I see some of you are receiving calls. I thought we wouldn't hear from them until week 3? Just curious...and hopeful! I would love to hear from him sooner.
