Welcome to the Division Discussion for Division 909

Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

Yippee now I can direct a question just to my SRs division. Thank you. Have any of you heard from your SR at all? I have not received a phone call nor a letter (outside of the form letter). I am hoping that it means the division is busy. Thanks for responding.
thank you for responding, Navy mom. I I was beginning to think I was the only division 909 mom on here

Attention 909 loved ones:  I just got off the phone with my SR!  He sounds good, a little congested, but not depressed.  I asked him what it's like and he said, "probably like prison, only in prison they get more free time."  He did laugh about that, though.  He said the food was "delicious" and that he is warm enough.  He didn't think the weather had been bad.  He was happy to have those phone cards that I sent and asked for more.  We talked for 19 minutes.  He said that they are marching A LOT and that his first academic test is on Wednesday.  He also said he gave away most of the phone cards to other SRs so they could call home.  He said his bunkmate was also from CA.  He sounded positive.  Hope you all get your calls today.

I got to talk to my son for 45 minutes about 2 this afternoon! He is doing great and sounds awesome! He says the food is good and that they are a talkative group so they get to do lots of pushups!! I hope ya'll also got to hear from your SRs!!

I received a phone call, well actually 2 today. My son called around 2 this afternoon. I got to talk to him 40 minutes. He called and we exhausted the 20 minutes on one card and said our "see ya laters" and then he called right back. He is congested with the sniffles but no cough. Said he isn't going to medical. He said some people go to medical for just a headache. He says he isn't that sick. Today was going to be the divisions first day of actual PT. he seemed excited about that actually. He said it is cold but they have plenty of warm gear. He is 18 and says that a lot of the guys are older in their 20s, but that he is making friends left and right. He is homesick. Got a little teary a few times. Just says he misses me and his dad. Excited that we will get to see him on Christmas. He says their RDCs are cool. They are doing a lot of marching too. He is a dental yeoman and is scheduling appointments for his "job". He did say that all he sees is metal buildings and that he has no clue what is going on in the world, so the letters from home are certainly appreciated. He said he feels, like when he gets out "cars will be flying". At least we laughed about that. We talked about hometown gossip and college football scores. One happy happy happy momma today.

Super Cute Bunny Waving

Nothing for me yet. Keep praying I will get one.

Yaaaa, it is so good to know the moms from our SR'S SHIP & DIV. Good morning moms, I feel much better since Saturday. Let me tell you ProudMom93, i did get a phone call on Saturday that just past. I was so excited and my son sound GOOD as well. Maybe i can tell you a little about what he told me. Our SR'S are in a Elite class, and yes they have been very busy. I was told that they will be apart of the graduation, and they are working and marching more than the other Div. From what my son told me, he was in a different div until being moved to the current DIV due to leadership role. He told me that the group is fine and that everything is going well from that DIV. OH, he said that they just got the opportunity to call, so maybe you will hear from your SR soon. I hope you feel a little better, knowing that he's part of a top DIV. Hang in there! Good Luck to all the moms here and thank you so much NAVY4MOMS!

Hi ProudMom93, just read the posts and i see you did hear from your SR as well. I'm glad that we all got to hear from our SR'S. Time is approaching for graduation, and i can't wait. Enjoy your day ladies!!

Are any of the moms/families here from Texas? I still worry about my son. He just sounded sad on the phone call Saturday. Said he was one of the youngest in the division. Said majority were 20 and some even married. I told him that was a good thing that they had a little more life experience under the belt and that could help him too. Just miss him so much.

Hi Div. 909 Loved ones!  I got my first hand printed letter today!  It wasn't too long, but boy it made me smile.  I wanted to tell you that he said he absolutely is SICK of marching LOL.  Sounds like they've done a lot of it.  He did say that the group gets along well and haven't been yelled at too much.  He also said that he has to have his wisdom teeth pulled and he was looking forward to it because it meant sleep for him!  All in all, his spirits sounded good and he wrote with good humor.  He wants to take his bunkmate with him on the Adopt A Sailor program at Christmas and he told me the bunkmate's name, but I am not sure if I need to get permission from the other parent or what.  He was going to be picked up by some cousins.  I live in So. Cal. and I do believe his bunkmate is also from CA.  '

Does anyone on here have an SR in 909 from CA?

I received a call yesterday as well.  My SR got his wisdom teeth removed.  He said it was a bit "traumatic" because they didn't put him under, just local anesthesia, and the sounds were a bit gnarly.  All in all, however, he sounded so good.  He kept referring to his "brothers" on the ship.  That warmed my heart since he was my late in life baby and even though he has brothers and sisters, he was so much younger than they were that he didn't get to really live with them.

He said the division is working well as a team.  He is on the rifle drill team.  He said the food is "amazing" (not sure what that says about my cooking!) and that he thinks he is gaining weight, not losing it, because he is eating so much.  He was in really good physical shape when he left, and he said he's actually exercised less while in boot camp, but that was because the processing days and the wisdom teeth days I think.  When I told him I heard they can't talk during chow time, he said that was true, but nobody wanted to anyway because they were shoveling in the food so fast.

Hopefully you will all have great contact with your SRs soon.  Just a heads up, he said something about Tuesday being allowed another phone call, but I'm not sure if I understood that correctly or not.
