Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

According to the discussion in PIR Reference group's discussion about recommended places to stay (http://www.navyformoms.com/group/pirreferenceinformation/forum/topi...), the Navy Lodge, Residence Inn, and Spring Hill Suites are the favorites. Navy Lodge has the best prices it looks like, but Spring Hill Suites has a lot of places to eat or shop around it so I'm leaning towards that...

It make get stuck in your head and you may find yourself singing it all day lol. I wrote this little jingle last year and it is to the tune of Santa Claus is coming to town.

I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving and had lots of great homemade goodies. I cooked for two days, shopped all night, came home slept one hour in the past 32. Feeling a little like I was dropped off at boot camp, with lots of strangers everywhere I looked and people yelling and trying to sleep standing up. It was not pretty lol. I miss Black Friday the way it used to be :(

Comment by LI mom on November 23, 2012 at 11:00am: Goodmornin Diannep it was good my grandaughter had her first thanksgiving and we had alot of fun with her she got her first taste of ambrosia off my finger as she is only 2 mo and just a tiny bit. We (especially me) was missin my son though and we lit our blue candles for him and our other military families. It was still a teary eyed event and watching the yearlong didn't help. I hope yours was great.
