Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

diannep, from what I understand it's just the two TGs you mentioned. No matter what though, I'll be watching my phone like a hawk! :D

I was sort of hoping for a call this weekend...maybe tomorrow. I know they had a lot of inspections this week, I hope they did well.

Thanks for the explanation, SailorsV'sWife!  Is this group included in the Adopt a Sailor this year?  I hope so.  I know it is usually the two most "senior" PIR groups, which would be 12/28 and 01/04 groups.  Hoping this one is part of it too!

I still say...answer ALL calls now...while you have a SR in bootcamp...because you just never know!  If someone has another Chicago area code, you may not recognize it.  So answer them all!  And get rid of the telemarketers quickly because you are awaiting  call from your SR!  :-)

Good Morning All!

Here was her blog post and her original post in this group about it:

* http://www.navyformoms.com/profiles/blogs/december-1-2012

* As in the last 5 Christmas's we have hosted about 500 SR from Great lakes. PLEASE pass it on, and if you have a call from a 219 area code pick it up!! Lots of vfw do this too. So be on alert your SR might be one of them that got to spend the day off base. We generally host those who are just about to graduate from Christmas to mid january but we are not told which division we host till they walk off the busses. IF we get them, they will be fed a traditional christmas dinner, movies xbox phone calls and people bring personal phone for them to use. We have seven just in this family. I will have my Sailor home for the first time in four years and instead of just relishing in him, he will be serving the SRs too. This is the brother/sisterhood that the Navy instills. We also take pictures of every SR and daughter usually comes home Christmas nite and post them all cause she knows how you must feel. From this family to yours we wish you a merry Christmas and please know that even though mom might not be there..this NAVYMOM huggs them all as if they where my own. Please Please pick the phone up on Christmas and I hope we get the honor to host your hero!

Nate's Mom (Wendy) is the one who's family is helping a church or organization (I don't remember the details) host a bunch of SRs for the adopt a sailor program. She said her family brings a bunch of cell phones and they try to help every sailor make a call. They have the 219 area code phones.
