OPSEC, OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmust importance. Please take the time to read the Opsec and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names are never allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but discouraged as their RDC's read this site and can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

lol this time next Monday I will running around like a chicken with it's head cut off making sure everything is packed and ready to go! haha I can't wait!
@Diannep....my son's original PIR date was last Friday 1/6....he actually would have been all done. I am so happy for those families and I know they were so excited to get the calls and watch their sailors graduate!:) I agree Hooyah!!!!!:)
oh boy, mome3jord. That is expensive! Yep, sounds like you definitely need to check luggage! For those on Southwest, no issues...first 2 bags check for free! Maybe more airlines will go to that policy...well, better not hold our breath on that one, but I do think the airlines are being investigated for excessive fees...so we shall see.
By the way, mome3jord: Your former PIR group is starting to receive their I'm a Sailor calls! You may want to drop in later and see what awaits you soon in this group! It is exciting...and this group is almost THERE! For any who want to check out the calls, it is

Hooyah!
mome2jord... here is the link for the gate pass: http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/upcoming_grads.asp
@Diannep...lol...my Ugg boots are for when I get to Chicago, I will have different shoes on the plane, a different pair for the meet and greet and more for each day. I travel with many pairs of shoes...haha! I am very girlie and don't travel light. We fly a lot, so I have it all down to a science for what works best for me. I am one who does not like to carry a lot on the plane, it's easier for me to relax and enjoy the ride. On the other hand I have a friend who likes to carry everything on the plane and not check luggage. I think it's just personal preference. There are several items in my luggage that I can't carry on anyway, they will take it at the security gate. Has happened several times. One time they took all my Lancome lipgloss, mascara, facial creams and toothpaste because it all did not fit into a small sandwich bag. It cost me $300 to replace it, so I don't take the chance. I do carry on my purse and magazines....gotta have good reading material!:)
I never got our son's form letter so I am not sure where to go to print the gate pass. He did give us the password, just not sure where to print at.
BTW...We can officially print the gate passes today! Even if you aren't driving on base, a fun souvenir!
It is amazing how much we "have" to have now to travel with little ones. My mom took a Grey Hound bus from NC to OH by herself, well with me and my twin brothers. I was 1 and they were 2 months old. I have no idea how she did that. She says a lot of help from strangers, it sure is a different world now.
Boy am I glad I am driving. Little kids come with way too much stuff to get under the 50lb limit lol I am going to have a hard enough getting everything I need into as few bags as possible. I can't believe NEXT Tuesday we will already be on the road! sooooo exciting. Can't wait to see my husband :D
A friend of mine just sent her daughter back to college. The daughter's bag was 5 lbs overweight. Cost her $90 (ouch) to check! UGH!
