OPSEC, OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmust importance. Please take the time to read the Opsec and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names are never allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but discouraged as their RDC's read this site and can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

I'd like to say a big Happy Birthday to my SR today. He is 18! I couldn't be any prouder of the man my SR has become!
I keep typing "son" but I have 2 more. I am proud of all 3 but it's hard for it not to be all about this one right now!
O I hope no one messes up the call privilege. I am ready to hear my husband's voice. Just because he says in his letters he is doing good doesn't mean he is tell the truth. He may be trying to keep me from worrying. So I would like to hear his voice so I know for sure he is okay and not worrying about the kids and me. Gah Jan 20 can't get here fast enough. lol but then I guess the count down starts all over but at least while at A school we can skype.
I think we will be getting a call this week :) !!! I prefer to think positive...LOL
I have been sleeping with my cell phone and the house phone just in case. We are in bed by 8 since we are up between 3 and 4am. I hope he gets to call before Friday! I planned a secret vacation for my husband and I would hate to be on a plane when the call comes!
mome2jord: My son's first division (he was also asmoed for a week when there) made several calls. I think he had called me about 3 times by the time he was asmoed in training week 3. But his next division was not allowed to make many calls. I think I only heard from him once...and then the I'm a Sailor call.
So each division is different. They can be scheduled for a call, and not get it....they can lose them for many reasons, individually or as a division. Also, those who have watch may miss it and not sure when they can get theirs in. Just depends. Sometimes they just run out of time when the SRs are making calls...I just learned to consider each call "a gift" and not to expect it. I went on the no news is good news theme...but it wasn't easy. Because the call saying he was asmoed was not good news! :-(
My calls came at all times...but mostly on the weekends. He also was allowed to call on Christmas Eve which was a gift! He was asmoed then so that might have been why he could call. Training had been temporarily stopped.
Good morning all!
I think all of my calls came in the evening time as well. My husband works days and I know he was home for every call that came. And, if I remember correctly they all came during the week except for one that she got to make up after missing a call while having her wisdom teeth removed. That one came on a late Sunday evening, probably 8pm their time. I will say when they write and say be expecting a call on such and such day try not to get your hopes up. They can have calls rewarded and taken away and many calls that are promised are not made exactly when they were promised.
I hope you all get wonderful calls this week :-)
I will be away subbing in 4th grade today so I will be MIA until this afternoon. Have a great day everyone :-)
Well...let's see...I am on the west coast and I remember getting a couple of calls around 5-6 PM so 8-9 their time. That is standing out to me but I think it can pretty much be any time. Figure they are busy during the day though...so after dinner chow...lets see what the other veteran moms have to say!
Some get long calls some get short...depends on how it is going...I was supposed to get thirty minutes...got half that on the first one. That was just me though...I didn't mind as I was the only one my son had to call...I know others had more people to call so hope our time went to them!
FTLW....do you know if these I'm Alive calls usually come during the day or more in the early evening? I'm sure there is no set time, just curious. With my son being asmoed I never got the hour long three week I'm Alive call, so this is our 6 week I'm Alive call...I'm so ready for it too!!! So far all our calls have been 1-2 minutes. Not that I'm complaining, I will take ANY call from our son! Just this one I am super excited for!!!:)
