Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

This Group is for those of us who have a Sailor Recruit's Pass in Review January 20, 2012. Please feel free to connect with one another as we will hopefully all be sitting the same room watching not only our own Sailor but all of our Sailors finish their RTC journey and continue on with the rest of their Navy journey. OPSEC, OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmust importance. Please take the time to read the Opsec and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names are never allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but discouraged as their RDC's read this site and can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

That's great your son has three jobs, I hope he's good at push ups, lol, my SR is a section leader also and when his division gets in trouble he gets to do the 8 count push ups, I asked how many has he done since he had the job, he said over 300, poor thing, lol!

Everyone talks about the form letter and I was starting to get upset, but then I realized it is out of my hands and I can't control the letter coming...lol, so I would just attempt to get any pertinent info from one of you sweet ladies....and you were able to give it me, thank you!:)

Comment by mome2jord on December 7, 2011 at 11:05pm: Got ANOTHER letter today...our son said he now has three jobs. He is a section leader, Weapons Petty Officer and APO. I am so ecstatic and one happy Mama!!! I don't know what those jobs are, but they sound cool...lol!:)

Comment by Navy Mom x3 on December 7, 2011 at 10:52pm: @Cristina... I was hoping I would have to field security questions! Sam is a Nuke and I was hopeful they would need something, anything! He is young and only had 1 address in 10 years and 2 jobs (and 1 was where I work).

@Mom2jord... 37 days? I would not be this calm! The 1st sentence under the address is "We encourage you to send letters and cards to your recruit - your support continues to be invaluable."

There's info about graduation... "All visitors age 13 and over must have a valid, government-issued photo identification (driver's license, passport, etc.). Children 12 and younger must have a copy of their birth certificate and social security card. Graduation guests may enter the gate at 6:30am and the ceremony begins at 9:00am."

The rest is pretty much in the family guide or available here on N4M.

Comment by mome2jord on December 7, 2011 at 10:34pm: So, should we not send cards at all? I don't even know what the form letter says. We still, after 37 days, have not gotten the form letter. Our son gave us a password to get in the gate but is there other stuff on the form letter we should know about? I was going to do the 12 days of Christmas for our son in the way of cards and pictures....guess I will have to send them to other family. Wonder if they will mind getting them and being called my son...lol!?
