Welcome to PIR 01/20/2012

OPSEC, OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmust importance. Please take the time to read the Opsec and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names are never allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but discouraged as their RDC's read this site and can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

@futurehmwife....who told you that? I thought cards were fine unless they are of the musical variety?? :( I was so excited to send him our family cards...

Comment by Samantha (DDG 51 Arleigh Burke) on December 7, 2011 at 4:08pm

Lots of push-ups coming their way, since I have sent several cards. Bad Mom!!! I guess my son will have to write me an extra letter to tell me not to do that...LOL...No more from me :)

Comment by Cristina (Robin'sMom) on December 7, 2011 at 3:33pm

Please no greeting cards, stamps ok,not sure about phone cards.

Comment by futureHMwife on December 7, 2011 at 1:36pm

Hi everyone! I was just informed that you should NOT send your recruits Christmas cards. They will get in trouble if they receive one and the whole division will be punished. The RDCs make the entire division do 8 counts.

Comment by Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor on December 7, 2011 at 12:33pm

Gee, diannep, I'm not sure about the digital's either.  I guess he will have to ask.  But, if they can't travel in those, I guess I will have to pick him up in his civvies, because he isn't comfortable in the dress blues.  He's also the same way with wearing the uniform.  He always say to me.  "I don't want to get anything for free, just because I'm in the military, because that is not why I joined, Mom"  :)  It makes me proud to hear him say that, but on the other hand, I want to see him in his uniform when I pick him up.

Comment by diannep on December 7, 2011 at 12:14pm

Lala:  My son said similar things about traveling in uniform.

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on December 7, 2011 at 9:13am

I don't blame you Betsy, I would want mine in uniform as well. I have yet to see my daughter in her Dress Blues as well. I have seen her in all the others. When I tried to get her to wear a uniform to an event she wouldn't do it lol. She wanted her own clothes again. And, even said they are discouraged from traveling in uniform because if the plane were to get Hijacked or something they wouldn't want the hijackers to know they were in the military and risk be taken for hostage. That kid of mine always has a "good reason" that I am sure she has thought of in advance as an excuse to NOT grant my wishes lol.

Comment by diannep on December 7, 2011 at 9:07am

I can't get mine to wear his uniform on the plane.  He said he shouldn't be entitled to any more perks than any other person traveling...oh well....

Betsy:  Is he allowed to wear the digis on the plane?  They had some pretty strict rules about where they could wear those so I hope he checks on that.

Good morning all!

FTLW, I bet your boy will look so handsome in his dress blues.  If I attended your church, I would be tempted to stand up and cheer for him.  When does he get home?

Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on December 6, 2011 at 11:57pm
Cool Betsy! The digis are great, huh?! I have yet to see my boy in his dress blues...guess what his mama wants him to wear on Sunday to church?! No one knows he's coming home yet!
They have changed the Seabee uniform. They normally wear like a jungle cami. Now its some kind of digi, but not as nice. Guess we'll get used to it! He actually wore his digi-blues as they haven't issued the new uniform to him yet. Has his Seabee patch though! He is a BU, builder.
