Welcome to PIR 01/20/2012

OPSEC, OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmust importance. Please take the time to read the Opsec and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names are never allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but discouraged as their RDC's read this site and can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

Samantha...omg, that made me laugh so hard!  On my way to the kitchen right now!!! LOL!!

Rachael...I bet by the end of boot camp your son won't forget...lol!!  I think today is the day for letters...I will pray that mailbox is full of happy writing from your SR!:)  Keep us posted!

We have been putting "Mom" and "Pop" in the return address on our letters to him.  I usually call the house around 4 to make our 14 year old go check the mail when he gets off the bus.  It's been going on now for 3 weeks so you would think he would just check before I call. No! Maybe today is the day for the letters for me too!

Comment by Samantha (DDG 51 Arleigh Burke) on December 5, 2011 at 4:17pm

@mome2jord....Get out the teapot, steam them open, re-seal and no one will know...TeHe....The suspense would be killing me!

We got two letters from our son today...haven't read them yet as we always wait for my hubby, daughter and I to be together.  So, this means we will have to wait until 5:00 when our daughter is finished with basketball practice.  It is killing me but would make me feel worse to see the disappointment on our baby girl's face if we opened before she is with us.  I will say how sweet our son is, when he sent the letters, one of them is addressed to Mom and Dad.  I love my kids so much, they are priceless!!!:)

@Betsy and FTLW....Prayers for your hubby's and their travels...Betsy, that is funny that you are warmer in MD than he will be in NM. We are in Northern AZ and it has been snowing here for three days.  Today the sun is finally out, but it is freezing!!!

Comment by Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor on December 5, 2011 at 3:30pm

Thank you, FTLW.  Congrats to your son!  So sorry to hear about your pets challenges.  :(

Will do, on the prayers for your hubby too.

Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on December 5, 2011 at 3:28pm

I will be off most of the day too...will check in and read and then probably be an "elf" later on!

Betsy...praying for hubby! Mine will be traveling the next two days also so we can keep each others hubby's in prayers...my son too!

Well...I was vascillating on which video to use today...I am fighting a "humbug" mood as followed up my stomach thing with a small cold. Sons Horse has a bad case of hives (it is seasonal with her...fall/winter...last year she was REAL bad...scary) so giving her dex shots...and to top it off one of our dogs had to have exploratory surgery AGAIN for eating something he couldn't pass! He survived but I am not sure we will 'cuz y'all KNOW how much that costs$!. So, I was going to do "The Grinch" but I think I will wait on that for just plain 'ol fun and play something from my dear hubby's favorite movie, "Scrooge"(If you have not seen the Albert Finney musical version, try too! It is the best Christmas Carol one)...because,

GUESS WHAT? We have a Seabee! Hubby is flying out to see him graduate. He didn't get to go to PIR as he was in Iraq...and we can only afford one of us to go, so I thought it best for him to go. They have not seen each other in a year! It's been six months for me and his bros since PIR. (Again, sooooo thankful for those extra days of liberty!) I am so proud and thankful...so here it is because NOTHING can really steal our Joy!
