OPSEC, OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmust importance. Please take the time to read the Opsec and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names are never allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but discouraged as their RDC's read this site and can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

diannep...I do agree that we have to stay positive in our letters to our SR's. They rely on our encouragement and support. I made a family member a little upset by telling them to make sure they do not put bad news in the letters. They had a situation of someone close to our son end up in the hospital, but it was not life threatening so I told them there was no need to make my son worry. They have so much going on in boot camp, they don't need any added extra pressure. I'm just a mama bear trying to protect their cub...lol! All in all, they love to laugh and need some good fun in the letters to take their mind off the stress!
It is so hard to read discouraging news from your SRs...but it is so common especially this early, like Lala said, and during holidays. My son would write some negative in his letters, but always end with positive. Wanted me to know it wasn't fun, but he would get through it and he did. So try to remember to only share GOOD positive news with your SRs now, since they need to put all of their focus and energy into their training. If, God forbid, you have unexpected bad news in your family, consider not sharing until after PIR (like a pet dying, etc). It is up to you, of course, but it really can affect them. They need to feel that all is ok on the homefront so they don't worry.
Just remember....the letters will get more and more positive as they progress during the training weeks, and during the last couple of weeks, they will be full of excitement and determination!
Rfd1974....yes...the letters are exciting to get and yet so emotional. I cry through every one I get from our son. The last letter I got touched my heart beyond words. Thanksgiving was extremely difficult and yet I realize I survived and so did he...this gives me the strength to keep moving forward. Sometimes I feel guilty because when I see the letter in the mailbox I am so happy and excited and by the end I feel as if I got hit by a truck.....but I never want the letters to stop coming. So know you are not alone and it is okay to be emotional. Afterall, these are our babies we gave birth to and raised for 18 years....we will make it to graduation day!!!!:)
That is so common Rfd especially during the holidays. Just keep encouraging her adn hopefully her next letter will be a little better. I dried so much with the first letter from my daughter as well. She said she cried herself to sleep the first night and I had a very hard time reading the rest of the letter. But each letter afterwords got better and better and by the end she was saying she loved bootcamp. I will keep her in my prayers and I hope it gets better quickly for her :-)
Oh Rachael....it is amazing the horrible dreams we have while our recruits are gone. I am sending you one big hug and know your SR is doing great. I pray for good, happy phone calls today for all of us so we can put our minds to rest for a minute. Trust me when I say no news is good news, it would just be nice to hear their voices in a positive phone call.
Good morning! I slept well until I had a terrible dream... My SR called and said he was separated from the Navy and coming home. I had to wake myself up and verify I wasn't actually on the phone! It was so hard to go back to sleep after that but I know this is what he has wanted since before he was 17 and can't possibly be true.
Good morning Ladies!!!! It is a great morning, I actually slept in. That does not happen often, so I will cherish it and enjoy my morning cup of coffee at 10:00 am!:) Hope everyone is having a great day!!!:)
Lala: Thanks so much for the prayers! Blessings to your dad for the care he gives your mom. That is true love!
And...my mom is a 'hoarder" ...not with buying NEW things, but with having an attachment to so many OLD things. To break that is so very hard emotionally for them, but her house is a health risk because of this now (mainly closets but a couple of bedrooms too). Thankfully, the caregivers are helping her to clean out...it is just step by step and she hasn't started on the closets yet...yikes.
Seems like we N4Moms veterans are the only ones on here today! Where is everyone? Hopefully at church!
