OPSEC, OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmust importance. Please take the time to read the Opsec and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names are never allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but discouraged as their RDC's read this site and can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

Sigh, Betsy....it is so hard. Sandy is having issues with her mom also...that is why she is MIA on the PIR sites right now. So glad your dad is staying active...I kind of understand why my mom and your dad are a bit angry...even though they know that illness can't be helped. It is hard when the "other half" is still so "young at heart" and active....
mome2jord: Thanks for the kind post. Yes, I have dreams that they find a way to "melt away" the "stuff" clogging the brains of Alzheimer victims...I dream that my dad comes out of "this procedure" and says, "Hey, Dianne, how's everything going?" Oh, how I long to hear those words!
FTLW, why doesn't it surprise me that you are also talented?. I must be the only dud on here, lol.
diannep, I can imagine how difficult that is for you. ((Hugs)) It is kinda sweet that the gentleman part of him continues. It's just the opposite in my parents, as my dad tends to be angry that my mother is so sick. It is almost as though he is upset with her. He always tells her that they never got to travel the way they planned for their old age and then she feels like it's her fault for being sick. :( My dad is extremely active (walks for 2 hours every single day) and is very fortunate that he has no major health issues.
@diannep....sorry in my post I meant to say that I hope one day they find a way to manage Alzheimers.....guess my fingers aren't typing right tonight...lol!
futureHMwife.....no letter here this week. When my son first left for boot camp, we got our first letter around the second week and then several letters each week. I have gotten 6 letters and then when he got asmoed and put into this 045 division the letters have stopped. So it must be something that has to do with the 045 division and maybe they got their privileges taken, or possibly maybe since they just got there they are still on the lag time before mail is sent out. the letters will come, I am not sure why they have not been out yet, but I wanted to let you know it is not just you. Hopefully next week. Our son said they mail out letters on Sunday and Friday....so fingers crossed for Monday!:) Keep your chin up!!!:)
diannep...that has got to be so hard to see your father get this awful disease. He is a blessed man to have a family that loves him so much and is willing to handle the pressures that it puts on all of you. I can only hope that one say a way to manage Alzheimers is found so those who get it don't have to go through all that. Your mom sounds like a sweet lady! Many prayers for your family!
Well All....Montana State makes it to the next round....Woot! Woot!....Our town is HUGE for college football...Go Bobcats!
Believe me....since having a father with Alzheimers...you girls are right. It is an awful awful disease. He is starting to "rage" now and that is so not my dad. Makes me cry. He still is at home and active with Mom's schedule...but we have caregivers now since Mom had to be hospitalized...I think caring for him is part of the reason that her healthy body went into crisis. I look at my dad...and see him physically (and he looks darn good--compared to Paul Newman!) but he is not "my dad" anymore...conversation is little, and he is like a small child...very selfish now, even eating other people's food without asking---gets a huge smile on your face if you give him an ice cream bar. But ...he still opens the door for my mom! That part has stayed.
We all need to pray that we are protected from this horrid disease. He has had it now for about 9 yrs. Mom has cared for him very well...but refuses to accept him "where he is now" and won't "play the game" which is what you have to do with him. Just as you would a child. I think she is kind of angry he got this since their lifestyle is so active, and she is trying to maintain that. So she will try to reason with him...which of course is ridiculous. He can only maintain recall for about 10 seconds.
Ugh....
Yay I'm FINALLY home from a long Friday and Saturday in Memphis. The drive up there is sooo boring especially with out my husband. Still no letter from him. :( I starting to give up on the thought of getting a letter.
