Welcome to PIR 01/20/2012

OPSEC, OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmust importance. Please take the time to read the Opsec and Community Guidelines. A quick note here: Last Names are never allowed on this site. If it is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended. First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but discouraged as their RDC's read this site and can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture.

Oh LaLa...yes you are talented...I love doing crafts and miss it. I am currently in the process of "claiming" back a portion of my home for myself...other than the computer desk! We are five in a 1500 sq. ft. home! I can remember making Halloween costumes and Birthday cakes! Actually, this last spring I made a kilt and a tunic for my son and a friend for a church young men's retreat, "Battleground"...it was fun! I like beading and counted cross stitch...neighbor and I want to tackle scrapbooking together.

Lala, Oh see, that explains my lack of skills, my mother couldn't even sew a straight hem.  I took sewing in high school and she actually would ask me to mend things for her,  lol

It is sad to see those we love lose the best parts of themselves as they age,  I'm sorry  ((Hugs))

Those bar mugs sound interesting.  I am thinking of ordering my husband a pilsner glass with his initial on it, but haven't really decided for sure.

lol, Thanks Betsy, I have always been crafty. I got it from my mom. She was always amazing with all her talent. It is sad to see her now try to sew and forget how to operate the machine. I hope I never get like that.

I have been making the tote bags all day today, have several orders for them and tomorrow I am going to make some Navy Mom ornaments with etched glass. Always trying something different. I am also doing a set of bar mugs for my husband with "B" on them for Boston Red Sox as a Birthday or Christmas gift. Not sure which yet lol. His birthday is the 12th :-)

Lala, I'm so jealous of all of your talents.  I'm craft challenged.  I still can't believe that they allowed me to be a Girl Scout Leader for 7 years and also teach pre-school for 4 years, lol.

our tree is also artificial. I have beautiful hardwood floor and just can't risk water on my floors lol. I have all the hand made ornaments my kids made throughout elementary school and even have the ones I made for my family when I was a little girl. And you can imagine all the ones I have made. I learned to etch glass last year and made ornaments for our tree and for everyone else in the family as well :-)

Comment by Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor on December 3, 2011 at 8:44pm

diannep & Lala, your trees sound so awesome!  I wish we had done that with our kids, but I just never thought of it at the time.

I did buy a Navy ornament last year for my son, though.  I also got one for my daughter's fiance.

We have an artificial tree every year because my husband can't handle pine due to allergies.  I bought a $3 pine scented candle and when it's lit is smells just wonderful.  I wish I could have a real tree, but I guess fake pine will have to do.

Sweetlove - I think this year more than ever you should have a tree. Do it for the both of you. You have your dogs too! We actually have an ornament for each one with their names on it!
Dianne our tree is like that too. One of our early married years we had an ornament party and friends and family brought us personalized ornaments. I also scope out the Hallmark ones and one year I found a Lionel train one for hubby as he loves trains and they had a mini replica of the Fisher Price Farm that "moos" when you open the door for me! Bobba Fett, Darth Vader etc! Start making some wonderful memories for you both! :oD
