Hello, my son also left 11/24, only 1 "I made it here" phone call patiently waiting to hear from him again received the letter with info so we sent letters to him can't wait till PIR on January 23 made reservations at the Navy Lodge it can't come soon enough
mindyeus.. my son is in the same division
I got letters today from my girl. She left on 11/24... she said she is being considered for AROC. She is having good times and bad times... her own words. I know the mental part of it and missing home is really what she is struggling with.
Thank you...we will be flying out of BWI on 1/22 staying at the Quality Inn...I look forward to seeing our recruit!! We are flying Southwest. It will be my hubby, my oldest son, my daughter and myself.
We haven't purchased the tix yet, but will soon. Our recruit is Ship 02 Div 911. Anyone else's recruit the same?
Thank to the great info on here, I just booked my room at the Navy Lodge for Thurs and Fri nights 1/22-1/24...thank you!! I will be flying in from Panama to O'Hare on Thurs Jan 22....if anyone wants to hook up, split a rental car, etc - let me know! My room has two queen sized beds....this group is a life saver!
Remember, Southwest flies into Milwaukee (45 min drive to RTC, no traffic, cheaper car rental) and Chicago-Midway (hour+ drive to RTC depending on traffic.)
Good Morning!
Southwest Airlines is the best bet since there is no change fee if your SR is delayed in training or you need to change for any reason (2 bags check for free too). Also, unused tickets are good for a year....and again, you can change them to any destination (like A School!) without a change fee....just paying any fare differential. Sometimes, a SR cannot pass their final (3rd) PFA (fitness test). In that case, if they do not pass before Wed of PIR week, they will remain in the FIT Division to keep trying (about 12 more chances). They will not make their PIR in that case and once they miss their own, they do not have a PIR for test failure like that. That would mean that flights would be cancelled....but the good news in that situation would be that you could book a trip to A School to see your sailor there (they continue to try and pass, once they do, they do BattleStations and head to A School). They usually do have a short Liberty time after they pass BattleStations for those close enough to get there (there is usually no notice .... you won't know until you get the I'm a Sailor call).
Just a few facts about Bootcamp!
My son is Ship 14, Div 069...any other Moms the same?
Hello to everyone! I am so glad to have found this group! I will be coming by myself to the PIR and would love to share a rental car and/or hotel rooms, etc with any other single Moms who are attending graduation. I live in Panama and am so looking forward to being there on this, the proudest day in my son's life! Go Navy!
