My son also is Ship 02 - Div 911. Send me a friend request if your SR is also. I am searching for the Facebook page so I can dig deep and try to find a picture ☺ See ya'll in January. Dress warm.
There are three different kinds of 900 Divisions:
Band/Choir/Drill aka Triple Threat; Sticks (Flags) and Ship Staff/Honor Guard.
Triple Threat does all the music and also a rifle drill team and drum line. Sticks carry the Flags of the 50 states as well as a few others. Ship Staff is takes care of the admin duties on PIR day; "Sideboys" open doors and greet distinguished guests as well as other tasks in front and behind the scenes. "Body Snatchers" walk up and down the rows of Sailors watching for and catching any that might pass out (sometimes they lock their knees). Honor Guard performs a Rifle Drill before the Ceremony.
Your 900's will be performing at PIR and so do not march in like the other Divisions do.
They alternate with the TG's so each TG has a different kind of 900 Division.
They usually perform at their own PIR and possible the two PIR's before theirs as all three are needed to make the PIR run smoothly.
From what I am seeing 911 should be Ship Staff/Honor Guard. lemonelephant has it on Boot Camp Moms - 800 and 900 Divisions.
Hello all! My husband is in Ship 02 Div 911 graduating on 1/23/14. Super exciting time!:)
MommyLinda: I don't know the "cut off" number to determine a "good" ASVAB score, but we have been told before that they look for ones who have decent scores knowing they can handle the double duty....training and practicing! 83 sounds pretty good to me! :-)
NavyWife: Yes, 900 divisions are performing divisions, but not all in the group will perform musically/drill team wise. Some will do administrative functions. FTLW has more info on the setup of the 900 divisions so she can post more info later!
What ship and div is your son on terces?
Finally received the form letter yesterday. The mail was really late but it was worth the wait. Ship 12 Div 72. Glad to have the box and form letter. Still praying for those who haven't received those yet.I think the next thing to wait for is a phone call or letter. I mailed 6 letters yesterday and 1 card today lol
