Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Basket Raffle: Every week Sarge & his wife host a Meet and Greet for families of graduating Sailors. This event is a family fun M&G that entertains, plus Sarge gives out valuable information about our Sailors and PIR. It is an event not to be missed. A big plus is that those attending get to meet other members of this group that you have gotten to know over the 9 weeks prior to PIR. Friendships are made and everyone has a fantastic time. Something that has been done in previo...us PIRs is a Basket Raffle to raise funds to offset the cost of the (free) Meet and Greet. Baskets are donated by families going to the Meet & Greet and are displayed during the Meet & Greet. Tickets are sold during the M&G and winners picked. Many families donate "State Baskets" which include items that represent their state. Baskets do not have to be state baskets. They can be ANYTHING. Some basket examples are: Tea, coffee, craft, wine, gaming, taco night, reading, hot chocolate, candles, health & beauty, bath & body, sewing, Valentines, Halloween, Christmas, Easter, picture frames, Navy related, military related. At the 10/10 PIR someone made a NAVY quilt. The more baskets donated the more money raised. Have fun creating a basket for someone to enjoy. These baskets do not have to be in "baskets" they can be in gift bags, totes, reusable grocery/shopping bags or just wrapped in plastic. Some families assemble their baskets once they have arrived in GL. Some arrange for their baskets to be shipped ahead to Sarge. (If you would like to do that please pm for his address) Lets try to make this Meet & Greet a success as previous M&G have been. If you are interested in donating please comment below or pm me. Thank you for supporting Sarge who supports our Sailors!!! I can't wait to meet everyone!! (I also posted this on the Facebook Site. I am writing down all of the names of those that responded, but there are probably several on this site that are not on the Facebook site).

I'm trying to put a basket together. What is the typical value of the baskets? Just so I have an idea on what to put in it. Thanks, Val
From what I have read, anything goes! I think many will have a value of about 25 dollars, but I think one mom is making one worth about $200...ALL different amounts and varieties....
So far we have 11 baskets for the Meet and Greet - Thanks so much for those bringing baskets! I am excited to see what everyone brings! Anyone else out there? It would be great if we could get about 20 or 30 to help offset the cost of the meal. I can't believe we will be there in 2 weeks!!!
Wow! The last Friday down!!!! Can't wait to see everyone! I think we have about 25 baskets - probably more....
