Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I totally understand and I think you did the right thing. As long as she knows you will support her no matter what she decides to do, which I'm sure she knows, it was great advice. I would have done the same thing. You're a good mom!

Dear Ladies,
I know that I have asked a lot of prayers and well wishes for my SR, but I fear that she is just about to give in.  I thought a lot about our conversation yesterday and I fear that she may take the medical SEP if offered.  If she does that then she will come home and try to heal, try to find a doctor and then try to reenlist and start back where she left off.  My fear is that if she were to come home right now, she may not finish her dream.  Any words of advise would be greatly appreciated.  It's not that I don't want her to come home, far from it, but I know deep down she will not be happy if she does come home. She will have the what-ifs and the I should've thoughts.  I wrote her a letter telling her that I think she is better off staying up there and getting the support, care and therapy she will need to get back up on her feet again so that she can continue on.  Was I wrong?

MaDukes...that's so awesome you were able meet your sailor in Pensacola! Are you staying there long? What base is he at?

All of the N4Moms veterans are the BEST!!! The information given was accurate and on point. Thanks!!!!! God's blessing to all of you! I met my sailor here in Pensacola for A school on yesterday. I'm the happiest mom in the world right now :)

Ladies, now it is time to evaluate the info we N4Moms veterans gave you during Bootcamp.  We like to tweak it, putting in place any new procedures/changes.

Can you please tell us how we did?  We want to make sure to give accurate info to the next groups.  So...let us hear from you!  Any changes?  Any inaccurate info given?  Just let us know!

Congrats to your new sailors!

jessiesmom2013,

Praying your daughter's xrays will just show she will be delayed a few weeks and will undoubtedly be a Sailor soon!!

Seen a group at the airport today when leaving for home!! They all looked so happy and proud. Around 8-10 of them, all from Div 912 (my sons division) I told them my sons name, and the grins and recognition on Their faces made this mom feel so good. They were a great group and their parents should be so proud:)
