Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Djmom:  If you fly Southwest into Chicago-Midway or Milwaukee, you won't have a change fee if you book and have to change for any reason.  2 bags check for free too.  Milwaukee is about a 45 min drive to RTC; Midway an hour+ depending on traffic.

I agree Dimom, if you haven't heard anything then he should be doing fine. They are on the downhill slope now and the divisions are coming together to work as a team and they can see the light at the end of the tunnel. You are almost there now :)

Djmom,

With just over 2 weeks to PIR, you should be in the process of purchasing your flight tickets.  Are your other children's names on the Form Letter that your SR sent out in the beginning?

Hello Friends!

My other two children at home absolutely want to attend PIR ceremony so I'm trying to decide if its too early to purchase flight tickets. Without having talked to my son. You're right as so you've stated before- that no news is good news!

Got my weekly delivery of roses today at work. Got 2 really pretty pink roses today. Can't post a picture just yet, I took them home during my lunch hour. I also got a one minute phone call from my SR on my way back to work after lunch. He needed some information. He sounded so good! :)

I can't wait to see him in a few weeks and give him a huge hug. I might not let go!!

...should add, Djmom, that no news is good news!

Djmom:  What info are you trying to find out?

Comment by mominconnecticut on January 15, 2014 at 2:03pm

Ooops...never mind I just saw the Battlestations explaination diannep.  Thanks for the info.

I am so excited to see my son in his Division 082 on the Facebook page.  What a gift...thank you, thank you.  This is a lucky week so far.  I had a bald eagle fly right in front of me yesterday and have had great things happen since then. :) Could someone explain to me what they do at BattleStations?
