~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

phone call came in!  She sounded great.  Said that she is doing better, the only problem she has is her ankle and her knee but they are going to get her fit for insoles.  Apparently she got a hit because she shifted her weight.  She said that PT is kickin her in the butt and she is struggling with a couple areas but is going to speak with her RDC tonight or tomorrow.  Said that she will send out letters on Sunday.   She did well until she spoke to my husband.  Then she cried.  She said that she spoke to her RDC and they approved for her to shave her head in support of her Grandmother who is going through Chemo for Breast Cancer.  They did 1/2 of her head and she has to wait until next week to have it finished.  I couldn't believe they let her do that.  They said that she is fine as long as she doesn't use a razor.  See her sister, uncle, grandfather, and stepdad had me shave their heads the Friday after Thanksgiving, but she could not because recruiter said no since she was leaving on the 3rd of Dec.  But her RDC said there is no problem with it and she said that her friends all know why and they are supporting her.  What a FAMILY she has there.  Proud Momma right here!!!!

Christina:  Pink eye is pretty common up there...and does spread in the divisions usually.  They get the drops and get rid of it pretty quickly.  But it is bad to have before BattleStations....because they cannot go into BattleStations with it.  So... hoping that the SRs keep their hands away from their eyes!  :-)

Yahoo!!! Got a phone call from my son! He sounds emotionally better but he has a cold and both big toes have infections. He is on LOD right now until his follow up Monday and he is hoping to get back to full duty. He hates not being able to run, especially when he said he can run right now but they won't let him. He says a SR in the bunk next to him has pink eye. I hope that does not start spreading.

Christina:  Good for you!  Taking care of you first = being able to take care of your family!

Me too! He's happy, and so am I! 079 is doing great. Big smiles!

Just got a call also!  It sounds like everyone has some type of sniffle or such but all is well - Div 079 did really well on an exam and earned a flag!!  We also got our two first letters.

diannep, my son would totally agree with you when he is sick he still works out because he says it makes him feel better. I have promised him that I will start working out and getting healthy, so I am really trying. I have a treadmill and I have started with doing a mile a day and plan to extend it and do more each week and I'm doing crunches. Thanks for the encouragement, that is something that I really have a tough time with is taking care of me!

Ahhh, Christina.  You may want to try your son's way!  I'm an exercise fanatic...have been my whole life.  I can't imagine life w/out my exercise---even had a bum knee, dr told me to stay off of it (no walking) for a while...hmmm, no can do...I limped along in pain...not quite as far...but I just knew it was the right thing to do...he was amazed at how much better I was when I returned for followup 10 days later....I never confessed that I kept walking...didn't want a lecture!   I walk 3.5 to 4 miles a day (split up over 3 walks since I have some of my dogs with me....but we go FAST!  One potty break...that's it!  HA) and I throw in a gym class 7 days a week too.  I know, sounds excessive, but it keeps me off meds, makes me feel terrific, coping with stress so much better, good sleep, yadda yadda yadda!  Even my sons think I'm nuts....but I know how I feel!  I just turned 60....yikes....and exercise longer per day now than I did when younger...arthritic joints demand exercise!  :-)

So choose your exercise venue and give it a shot!  There are some great classes out there....great for the body and meeting new people too!

Good Morning Everyone!
