Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Hello again. Well a few things. I see so many people got phone calls Saturday and as I was watching this I held my phone so close to me. But... Me nor dad received one. Is there anyone out there from Ship 13 Div 079 that didn't get the call? It's a little discouraging. But, maybe next weekend or at least Christmas. I would also like to connect with all from the same Div. so if I'm not friends with you already, please request it. I do have facebook too. Thank you all for sharing your stories. :)

I saw your message and sent you a request. My son is also Ship 13 Div 079. I forgot to attach the message. He called Saturday and is doing good. He said he is happy and enjoying it. I think its a good idea, we can compare notes...

Friends,
Also want to let you know that you can put your SR's cell phone on Military Suspension for the 2 months that he/she wiil be in Boot Camp. Just contact your cell phone carrier after your SR has made his/her "I'm Here" call and the phone is on its way back to you in The Box or any time after you get it back. You can do this for free and it will save on the monthly charges on that phone. You can re-activate it for the day before PIR. I was able to easily re-activate my daughter's cell phone online at Verizon Wireless.

Thanks MommaT and I agree, we all need to stick together for each other. This site has been a lifesaver for me. I don't know how I would have managed without all you ladies to share with and to hear your stories. I hope we all get to meet at graduation on 1/31/14.

PiR 1/31/2014.....and it can't get here soon enough!!! Christina, my SR wasn't all smiles either, I really think he was trying to stay upbeat because he knew his sister was graduating within the hour. I personally think it's good that they can still cry with their moms and let it all out. It is so hard but to know that you are giving them the strength they are seeking is comforting. They know we love them and because of that, they will succeed. Prayers for comfort for you Christina...meanwhile us mom's have to stick together for each other & our SR's.
