OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and are looking forward to the New Year :) I am hoping to be spending more time here now that things have kind of slowed down a little around here. My Sailor got her leave extended because of my moms passing so I am glad to still have them here with us. I am getting all the loving I can from my grand baby Eastyn. She is an angel and I know my Mom is watching over her now <3 They will be moving to CA in the spring to their new base and I have to get in as much time as possible. The long 4 day weekends in VA Beach will come to an end and CA is way to far for those quick trips. But, my hubby being the amazing man that he is bought me a round trip ticket to CA in June to spend two weeks with them :) When I saw what it was I was shocked, excited and scared all at the same time. I have never flown before lol.

Started making our travel plans tonight. Flight is booked! Now we have to get a hotel and car. Can't believe that this Friday is their third Friday at BC. I just pray every day that he is doing ok.

I got my first letter today from my baby, really made my day

I got my first letter!!!  I'm so happy, especially since my son sounded so miserable in his first call home, but his letter was hysterical.  Full of his usual silly sense of humor. It (and the extra call I got today) made my day!!  I hope everyone else is getting letters and calls

Today I got the dd form to get my military id, I'm happy I got this but my husband put my maiden name on the form instead of my legal married name so do anyone know if this will delay this process? Please help me thank you.

Hope it works out for you, babblesnboyz!

Good Morning All !

Comment by diannep on December 26, 2013 at 12:25am

babblesnboyz:  Won't Southwest let you change your destination on an existing ticket without charging you a fee?  Did you check with them to see if you could change to Milwaukee?  Did you compare the prices and see if it was cheaper from your airport to Milwaukee?

So sorry that more didn't receive calls today, but happy for those who did.  I knew this group was low on the totem pole to receive them since you are a new group so it hasn't been that long since you saw your SRs.  Hoping calls come in for you later this week or next week!
