~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I have not received my daughters form letter either.  I received her box on 12/17 though. She left on 12/11.  Her recruiter informed me she was DIV 913, anyone else have a loved one in that DIV?

I still have not received my daughters Form letter. I keep hoping it is in the mail box but nothing yet. She left for BC on 12/10 should I be concerned?

Good Morning Everyone!

Remember that Southwest Airlines charges no change fee and 2 bags check for free.  They fly into Milwaukee (45 min to RTC) and Chicago-Midway (hour+ to RTC) so check prices on both.  They also offer specials on one way fares so check those too.

Comment by TJsMom on December 19, 2013 at 11:17pm
We just made our flight reservations with Southwest and got round trip tickets for 2 for $489. I agree to make your reservations early for the best price.

roquevalgal I would go ahead and make the hotel reservations. Most of the hotels there allow you to cancel or change reservations up until the day you arrive with no cancellation fees and they don't charge your card until you check in. So no need to wait for that. The airfare normally goes up the longer you wait. Southwest has the best policy as far as being able to make changes so i would check their rates.

Just wondering when I should make the hotel and airline reservations for the 7 Feb14 PIR?  We live on West Coast.  Perhaps make the hotel reservations this week, and if the PIR date changes (for some reason), we can always change the dates at the hotel?  Decided it's much cheaper for us to fly Alaska Airlines than Southwest, even with the baggage charge.  We'd have to drive a full day and stay overnight in a hotel, and fly out the next day (both ways), to fly Southwest, as they don't fly in/out of our local airport. Anyone making airline reservations or are you waiting until after the holidays?

I'm waiting for son's letter too.  Box and PIR info ltr arrive less than a week after he arrived at BC - we were happy and surprised!

Wondering what Christmas day routine is like for those at BC?  Sure won't be the same w/o our child home at Christmas....

As I said, I withdrew my request to join their Facebook page anyway, so it's sort of a moot point now.  They all appear to be associated with this website, so I figured it was an official offshoot of it.

I haven't gotten a letter from my son yet, other than the form letter.  I was really hoping for one today, but no such luck :(

Comment by Cerabell18 on December 19, 2013 at 9:45pm

Anyone get their first letter yet? I keep hoping to find one when I open my mailbox.
