~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

TJsMom, I'm hoping I get the box today.  Did you have to sign for it?  Which area of the US do you live in?  I'm all the way in California so maybe that's why it's taking so long... Have you heard from his recruiter about the div #? I just talked to my husband's today and he said it should show up on his computer sometime this week.  So I'm just sitting around waiting.  I don't want any letters to get lost.  I just realized the mail will probably be backed up since its xmas time.

sarahmadeliene, my son got to BC on 12/10 also and he is EOD.  I received the box on Friday via Fed Ex but not the form letter yet.  Hoping it comes today.  I am counting on this being the right PIR and having the correct division # just sent out a x-mas card and letter.

Comment by Kaiti's mom on December 16, 2013 at 9:29am

My daughter left for BC on December 10. If  I am counting my Friday's correct this should be her PIR. Her box was deliverd on Friday but I was not home to recieve it. I was really bummed out. Still no phone call or letters. I have a stack of letters for her as soon as I get an address.

SP94, It looks like the only division that has been confirmed for this TG is an 800 division. If your boyfriend is SpecOps this would be the right place. If not, it OK just hang here until you know for sure.

TJsMom, They are given a recruit card when they arrive at the RTC. From that card they purchase uniforms, toiletries, phone cards (if needed) etc. That card is then paid for from their first couple of paychecks.

Friends,

Also want to let you know that you can put your SR's cell phone on Military Suspension for the 2 months that he/she wiil be in Boot Camp.  Just contact your cell phone carrier after your SR has made his/her "I'm Here" call and the phone is on its way back to you in The Box or any time after you get it back.  You can do this for free and it will save on the monthly charges on that phone.  You can re-activate it for the day before PIR.  I was able to easily re-activate my daughter's cell phone online at Verizon Wireless.

Hi!

Welcome to Navy for Moms!!

My Sailor Daughter's PIR was just this March 2013.  She is an IT (Information Systems Technician) stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. I primarily provide scriptural encouragement for the PIR groups, Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and a few of the other groups that I am a member of.  I'll also help out with anything that I am familiar with--all kinds of tidbits I learned during my daughter's Boot Camp experience~~  This site really made the time go much faster.  I'm so thankful that my Sailor daughter sent me the link for this awesome group of friends when she enlisted!!  Count 9 Fridays and before you know it, you'll be seeing your baby again at PIR!!  Here we go!!!

TJsMom,

They are issued a Recruit Cash Card that has money loaded onto it for toiletries and writing supplies at the NEX.  This card can only be used at the RTC NEX.  They cannot even look at or go down the candy/snacks aisle until they have earned it in some way or finished with their final test--Battlestations!!

Hi everyone. I see most of you are parents, but I wanted to reach out as well. My boyfriend left for bootcamp on 12/11 I am thinking 2/7 will be his PIR date, I hope that is correct. His mom has not received the "box" yet, but we both are assuming this will be his date. Anybody else have a recruit that left on 12/11? I am fairly new to this so if there is any advice we can toss back and forth that would be great.

Hello everyone.  I have been reading through some of pages and have a question.  How do the SR's pay for things at the NEX?  I was reviewing what happens at boot camp and it mentions that they go to the NEX to buy supplies, like socks for example.  How do they pay for these items if they don't have cash or money cards.  We were told that they only needed to take $10 with them to MEPS and that was it.  Does anyone know?  Are they given a credit account at the NEX?  Thank you.
