Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

We want to get there safe, but there's no way I can miss this special occasion. I am already packed and ready. Lol. I wish I can leave today. Just being in the same place as him will make me feel so much better. Have a good day all!

Sounds like a great community effort though to make sure the children are cared for and trying to get help for others. The baby born on the highway was such a PRAISE! Sounds like all went well...thank goodness there was a police officer nearby to help!

For any of you all in this "mess," please be careful!

I noticed this PIR group discusses a lot in the discussions on top..we don't always have the time to pop into each group. Many of you have great questions that someone may have to..maybe pop in down here too...:)

There's another group on N4M, have you popped into the PIR information group?

With the weather so cold don't forget to pack enough clothes to wear layers, many of you are from the warm areas of the country. I heard on the news last night that a lady living in Chicago was joking, she was moving to Alaska b/c it's warmer..just saying it's going to be cold there for many of you....be prepared...when we went to site see at the lake there, the waves were frozen!

I used to travel a lot for work...been know to ship myself a package of items I need to the hotel..maybe cheaper them paying luggage fees for some of you that are flying. Use the flat rate boxes, they hold up to 70lbs for a set fee...space bags are great for packing bulky clothes....
