~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Really we just need somewhere to wait until my Cousin gets off and he is Retired Navy so he knows the way to PIR He will be taking us Friday morning that's why even if we get a room I still want to go to his house Thursday Night since we have to be at PIR so early still not real sure about the Meet and Greet I would like to but talking my Husband into it is a little harder..lol

Maryv76,

Are you not planning on attending a Meet & Greet?  They occur on the Thursday evening before PIR and give you lots of info for PIR, plus free food is provided.  Sarge's has the most info.  Your cousin is welcome to attend.  Just add him as part of your party when you RSVP~

Here's one of the hints provided:  when driving to RTC, stay in the left lane on Buckley Road and go past the long line of cars waiting to turn right get into the RTC gate.  Drive to the train station just beyond, turn around, come back in the opposite direction and turn left into the RTC gate, thereby bypassing that line!!

So, I'm unclear if you need a room for the entire Thursday overnight or just need somewhere to wait for a few hours until your cousin can pick you up that same Thursday evening?  Which airport are you flying into?

Maryv:  You may want to try either Springhill Suites, Courtyard Inn, or Holiday Inn Express (Waukegan/Gurnee area)---4-5 miles to RTC.  All are pretty nice hotels...ask for the Navy Graduation rate (call the hotel direct)...all of these have gotten great reviews on this site.  Residence Inn is close to these too, and we enjoyed our stay there, but it is a little more pricey.  But larger if you need more space (we had a 2 bdrm 2 bth room).  We actually used our AAA discount...this was about 4 yrs ago.

Glorious Day!
