~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Courtney...that's great to hear...they are changing the rules a little bit now to help families at are there and not on the list.....
Good Morning!
"You hem me in--from behind and before,
You have Your Hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too lofty for me to attain."
Psalm 139::5-6
Congrats knitmare! That is wonderful news!
We took the shuttle to PIR and loved that. Easy, bypasses the line of cars waiting to get onto RTC, easy pick up after PIR. Sarge has a shuttle service as do the local taxi people who operate as shuttles that morning....all charge $3/pp each way on PIR morning. Sarge will have a sign up sheet at his MeetandGreet for those wanting to use his service. For the others, when you check in at your hotel, tell them what time you would like to go and they will book you on the shuttles coming to their hotel.
For those who want to drive, stay to the left on Buckley (main drag to RTC)...line of cars will be on your right. Bypass RTC...turn around at/near the train station which is right past RTC. Head back down Buckley from the opposite direction. It is an easy left turn into RTC then...no wait!
Others may elect to park off base at the train station and make the 1/4-1/2 mile walk to RTC...assuming it is not freezing and snowy, which I think may be the case for you all!
Those with sailors staying in GL for A School remember....they will move over to that base shortly after PIR is over. That takes several hours...they will then call you to pick them up from that base using a borrowed cell from an existing student, most likely (can't have their personal items over there until they return from Liberty).
Bridget: So very sorry about your husband. You can try calling the Public Affairs Office to see if they can get a message to your sailor: 847 688 2405 Not sure they can, but you can ask. Sure hope your husband is ok!
You are very welcome, BlueForever! Hope you have arrived safely!
plushbunnie: The 900 divisions went through on Tues night, finishing Wed morning. Hoping that he can call today. Did you check his FB page? Sometimes they get on the computers before they have any phone time.
You are very welcome, Beth! We have loved helping you all and are so proud of your sailors!
Courtney: I agree with BeachBunny. Extras are not allowed on base. However, if any extras have special needs...i.e., young children who can't be alone at the hotel or elderly family members who are compromised and need to be close to family, RTC will consider allowing them on RTC to watch the Livestream in the Chapel. I was in touch with Brian Walsh at RTC about this...he said they strongly encourage all extras to please stay off base and watch the Livestream at their hotel...but in these unusual circumstances, they will see if they can accommodate in the Chapel. Absolutely no extras will be allowed into the PIR Hall. Also, a SR cannot put the extra guests of another SR on his own list. That is not allowed.
