OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

LalaRibbonQueen - Question.  DaniGirl ask if anyone in our PIR had received their letter; and dennise94 said she received a letter.  I'm confused.  Should we anticipate receiving another form letter from our SR about PIR (other than the form letter we received when they first arrived at BC, that identified our recruit's graduation date)?  I don't remember reading about another letter.

It's so good to see so many are getting those calls and letters. Just keep writing and write every day if you can. That is what gets them through this journey. They work and train all day. At the end of the day they are tired and worn out and completely drained. Just before bed is mail call. The wait for their name to be called and then they get that precious letter or sometimes three or four :) and they make their way to their rack and read their letters. And just when they were feeling like they could not get through anther day your words of encouragement are there to give them strength and courage to get through another day and get closer and closer to the light at the end of the tunnel. By now the RDC's seem more like humans and the recruits feel like they are actually gonna become sailors. And believe me they appreciate your letters so much and most say they never have survived without them :) Now, get to writing lol

christn67 - Glad you received a call (Motherof 12 too).  My SR is Ship 09 Div 088 too.  Hope to receive a call too.  :)

We received our phone call from our SR. She got really happy when she got to talk to her dad. When she would call he would be at work, finally caught him home. He also enjoyed talking to her, he was all teeth. Can't wait to see her on Feb.7th.

I received a phone call this afternoon from my SR.  He has a bad cold but said everything is going good.  We got to talk for 13 minutes.  Made my day, week maybe even month!  Ship 09 Div 088.

Cortney:  You will have PIR day with your sailor until about 8 or 9 pm most likely.  They return to RTC and then will be bussed later that night or in the wee hours of the next morning to the airports to wait for their flights.  Some will fly out pretty early, others may be waiting most of the day in the airport. Take ID and you can get an airlines gate pass and visit with them at the gate until departure.  Occasionally, they do not fly out until Sunday, but normally it is Saturday unless they can't get flights for some reason.  Your sailor won't know flights until shortly before PIR.

Those sailors staying in GL for A School will have Daytime Liberty on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.  Friday they move over there shortly after PIR which can take 3-5 hours, but you pick them up there and have until later that night with them.  They return to base each night.  You get to pick them up pretty early in the morning and they don't need to return usually until pretty late at night.  Your sailor will have details when you pick him up at A School base on PIR day.
