OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Just got another call totally made my day!!!
Does anyone know what an "IT Card" something something means? My son said he made some kind of mistake while doing his Yeoman duties and they were going to pull out some kind of IT Card as discipline????? Said he got 4.8 on inspection but the mistake he made was due to lack of attention to detail Yikes!!! He was not looking forward to tonight but said he's liking BC otherwise

Huskies:  Might be nice to give him some gift cards so he can shop for himself when he arrives at A School.  You can give him a NEX card so he can shop at the NEX on his A School base since he won't be allowed to leave the base until he phases up.  But once he does, he may enjoy some gift cards he can use in the town he is in also.  He won't have much room to take too many personal items to A School in his Navy luggage, and you have to give them to him at the airport.  He can't take anything back to RTC with him.

I'm not sure he can take much with him to A school, you'll proably have to ship his gifts to him when he gets there.

Since we weren't able to have Christmas with our son, we are going to celebrate a 2nd Christmas with him up at Great Lakes. I'm having a problem thinking of gifts for him because I don't know what he may need or be able to have at A school in Texas. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas.

Diannep, I know it is cold in FL too but I still want to come there. It is much warmer there than what we had here in NC today. -1 this morning with a -25 windchill. There is a reason I don't live in Canada, it it TOO cold there. now Canada has decided to visit the deep south and we are ready for her to go back where she belongs lol :)

Hello All, my SR was PIR 1/31 but spent 4 day in medical sick with stomach bug and mouth and throat infection? He was moved to PIR 2/7, ship 14 div 084 due to missed training days.
