Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Is there any way to get ahold of my SR if I'm not able to go to the PIR? My husband is in the hospital and I'm not sure he's going to get out today. I'm a stressed disaster right now.

Safe Travel today. Go to Sarge's MeetandGreet tonight! 5:30-9...great info there, lots of fun meeting the other families!
Be early to PIR tomorrow....remember, if you are driving, bypass RTC on Buckley (stay to the left, car line on your right), then turn around, and head towards RTC from opposite direction...easy left turn into RTC. Gates open at 6:30, PIR Hall at 7, but you need to allow time to get through security.

B'sMom: You may be able to get those at the NEX. I would wait and shop in the one off base on Green Bay Rd (very close to RTC), since it is much larger and won't be as crowded. I would check there first. That would be another question for Sarge as well...in case the NEX doesn't have what your sailor wants.

thanks all! good point about rush hour traffic. don't think we will try that. next question: our sailor wants to get a new pair of boots (for marching) Is there a place in Gurnee where we could them?

Remember that Chicago is a full hour away from RTC, plus you have to factor in the Friday evening traffic. Maybe you can call the restaurant and ask them how traffic is from there to RTC to get a better idea. Or Sarge's number is 847-212-0246 to ask him.
