lorimc,

Hope you're holding up well without your husband so far! Do you have any children?

My son is in that ship/div ! Can't wait for PIR !

Glad to meet you ladies! We too rec'd our form letter from our sailor recruit--last Friday (we live in the Chicago suburbs). I cried as well. Our daughter (also our oldest) said the first three days were very tough mentally with no sleep. We miss her terribly, as I am sure that you ladies miss your recruits as well. 10 days already! Feb 10th will be here before we know it!

My oldest son is also in the Navy, stationed in San Diego. I think my youngest thought he had this all figured out because he had heard the stories from my eldest. I think he's finding out that HE DID NOT right about now. Since he is our youngest, so we get to go through empty nest on top of it all. So tell me - just how bad will the weather be there in February. We are native Texans stationed with the Air Force in Delaware, so we haven't experienced REAL cold yet.

LOL! A Chicago winter can be 30 above or 30 below. It just depends. So far, our winter has been pretty mild. We've had less than a half of inch of snow so far this winter--very strange. I am already praying for good weather the weekend of the 2/10 for all of you who will be travelling from out of town. As time gets closer, I will keep you updated on what's going on from a local's perspective.

BTW--my daughter will be heading to San Antonio for Corpsmen training after boot camp. She's excited to be somewhere warm Feb and March when us Chicagoans are pretty sick of the cold by then. We've never been to TX so I'm looking forward to seeing it for the first time when she finishes up A school.

Well Hello,

My daughter is in this Division, I recieved my box the Wednesday after she left, 12/12. As a family we went throught Boot Camp last year at this time with my eldest Grandson, who is 3 yrs younger than her. I am very glad to be on this site, thanks for the support, Let's stick together

BTW she will also be going to SAn Antonio for Corpsman training.

Nice to meet you hermomi! Here's to our Corpsmen daughters! I'm sure you are as proud as we are.

Both of your daughters are lucky to be headed south for the remainder of the winter! My son will be going to sub school in Groton, Connecticut. San Antonio is a beautiful city. When you go visit, make sure to go to visit the River Walk. To see the city, segway tours are fun - a little pricey, but quite the experience.  Busch Gardens does a "hero salute" and active duty military and up to three direct dependents get free admission into one of their parks once during the year, and that includes the San Antonio Seaworld. And for goodness sake - REMEMBER THE ALAMO!

I am looking forward to my son being in Groton. He is going to do electronics on a submarine, and depending on his specific rating, he could be there almost a year to train. My husband and I are looking forward to leisurely driving up the East Coast when we go to visit him.

How long will your girls be in Texas?

LOL! Hey do they take 45 year old guys? Sound like my husband would like subs.

Thank you for the info. My daughter will be in TX for 3 months. And she is so excited to go to Corps school!

Wow Sub School. That's intense!

Hi all,

My husband is part of this div/ship as well. I have received his box and form letter. I also got a short call from him on tuesday. It was a business call so even though we didn't get to really talk it was still nice to hear his voice. I can't wait to get a "real" letter. Merry Christmas everyone!

Merry Christmas!
