Just talked to my boy about 30 minutes ago for almost 30 minutes!!!! It was sooo good to finally hear his voice...he did get a little upset, said he had been waiting 4 weeks for that call!!! He said they are supposed to get to call again on feb 9th....hope everyone gets calls today...btw...he stated that some of the recruits had wisdom teeth pulled today and prob wont be calling for a few more days...so don't be discouraged if you dont hear from your recruit!!!  My boy had 2 pulled last week...We also got letters from him today, and I was upset cuz I was under the impression that they only received mail on Sundays...well...wrong...they receive mail everyday...so my son didn't get any one day and his bunk mate had, so that was hard for him...I TRY to write him everyday...but occasionally miss one...NOT ANYMORE...I feel like a horrible mom!!!!  I may start sending a few out a day!!! haha...I also found out that a friend of his from a neighboring town is in the same division...so its nice to know he has a friend right there with him!!!!   they are both going to hosp corps A school as well, so they should be best friends for life now :)

What DIV is your son in my son is in DIV 072 and I have not got a phone call yet, he is on his 5th week, and as of Jan 1st. he has not received any of my mail and is sad about it.... please let me know if you have any info of hope for me.... thanks

My son is div 070...we didnt receive our first letter from him until last thursday...and the second yesterday...he stated that they receive mail nearlyh everyday...which I didn't realize ( i thought they only got it on sundays)...I would be contacting the recruiter and see if maybe they know why he hasn't received your letters...I hope that you get answers and quick!!! Make you you are addressing envelopes with their ship and division number on it (if you aren't already)...goodluck!

Just in case... I got a letter stating my SR was in 072 but a friend of his got a letter returned I called his recruiter to make sure of his div. & it was 073. He gave me a # to call to try to get someone to help redirect his mail. I hope it isn't the same case because if your not careful how you word things could possibly get him into trouble. When I found out for sure it was 073 I called the #. I asked if they could kindly please help me & explained I knew it was a huge favor due to the fact your facility is so large & I felt badly to ask but if there was anyway possible you could kindly help it would be greatly appreciated. I thanked them for their service to our country & wished them a blessed New Year. 1st letter I received was on written on 1st, but I received on the 9th. I got a call luckily on the 11th because he had been on duty for a while, I hear this is a reward. approx. 30 min conversation. He told me he was now getting his mail. He told me he could only write on sundays sometimes but it was extremely hard due to all the work & alot of studying etc.& he couldn't always write. I told him it was great just to hear his voice & write if he could but understood if he couldn't. I also told him to write 1 mass letter to his friends & I would make sure everyone got a copy to help him out. I hope you hear from yours soon.  Best Wishes

karma - did it end up being 072 or 073? Did you receive the form letter from your recruit with his ship/div info? Is that the letter you are talking about OR do you mean a personal letter was incorrect?

Hi - a long time family friend just copied the address incorrectly that I gave her then she gave it incorrectly to other family members & family friends which made me question since I wasn't at home to verify so thats why I called the recruiter to help me...but she just had it wrong & everything worked out fine in the end. Thankyou for all your hard work helping everyone with questions and information.  I truly appreciate you keeping everyone up to date, it sure does help! Sending many blessings your way for this New Year & many more to come!

So glad you got to talk and hear your son's voice. We received a call on Thurs for about 20 mins. He said his div missed an opportunity to call because the div messed up and had IT instead, said they would earn another chance to call in 2 more weeks. I sent him one of the surveys found on this site (Dear Mom and Dad), fill in the blanks and he loved it. It also asked questions I never would have known to ask but glad to hear his funny answers. I thought they only got mail on Sunday too, but he said that is when he has the opportunity to write. I am starting to send newspaper clippings on sports events per his request too.
