~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

jojo:  You paid $12/ per person for the shuttle to return to the hotel????

Comment by diannep on March 3, 2014 at 9:44am

jojo: The Corry group is the one I know about.  You may ask on that group if there is another Pensacola group.  Or....click on some of the screen names on the posts on there and see if there are other Pensacola groups that the ladies belong to.  Maybe Lala will have more info for you since her daughter was there.

UGH!  So sorry, cupcake.  I think I will advise the next group to use Sarge's service and make sure to get the driver's name/cab number so that they get to ride back with his group.  This is a new policy since we were up there.  We paid each way....but I know there is great competition between Sarge's cabs and the local service.  Thanks for the info!

Good Morning All !

diannep~ yes that is what I meant, they charged us up front for the rides - both ways.  So yeah, we lost $12 and were not able to recoup it as we couldn't catch shuttle service.  When we approached the hotel about it, they told us it was an independent service and that they had nothing to do with it & couldn't help us.  While we thought that stunk, we had our Sailor with us and wanted to devote our time to him and not to chasing down 12 bucks!  So I would caution other mom's in that area..

We have heard about mixups between the area shuttle service and Sarge's (all taxis) before.  The shuttle business on PIR Day is very competitive and drivers will take whoever they can.  So sorry for the mixup, cupcake....I'm surprised that they charged you the price for each way upfront?  Is that what you meant?  We paid $3/pp each way... and didn't pay the return until we got in that cab.  Hmmmm.....doesn't seem right to me that they charged you both directions upfront...sounds like they are aware that the shuttles can get mixed up and they wanted to get that money!

There was 4 of us, besides our Sailor.. btw

Catmom; The shuttle mix up was with the hotel shuttle service.  They charged us $12 up front for the ride to & from RTC.  Because we didn't know it wasn't Sarge's operation, we were surprised when he asked us to pay him when he dropped us back at our hotel.  Like I said, he was real gracious & explained to us what happened and gave us a discounted ride.  All in all, I was really glad for the help and support/advice I received from you all!
