~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Cupcakegirl14- my daughter will also have 2 ribbons and I can say that one of them is probably related to his weapons quals. He either made Expert, Sharpshooter or Marksman. I'm not sure about the other one - maybe academic? Congrats either way!
Diannep- thanks for the info on the Phases. I had seen that but it didn't give any info on exceptions. I have got to relax and not try to figure things out. It is, after all, my now adult daughter's deal. I will release control. ;-)). Soon. Ha!

My son said he would be wearing 3 diagonal white stripes and 2 ribbons on his dress blues at graduation.  I'm guessing the 3 diagonal white stripes are E3? I don't know what the ribbons are??  Can some one please tell me what these things might signify?

kkjetz:  Here is some info on the different phases in A School:

Phases during Navy “A” Schools

**Phase I:

 - Mandatory Navy clothing and are not permitted off base. They need to be back in the barracks during the school week (Sunday night through Thursday night) by 9:45PM. and 11:45PM on weekends (Friday and Saturday). This phase starts when they arrive at A school.

**Phase II:

 - Comes after testing and qualifications which is about week 3 or 4. They can wear civvies when not on duty. They can leave base but their curfew is the same as phase 1. They have to return to base every night. Some changes have been made and certain programs will not allow Sailors to move out of Phase II until C School, if they are slated for C School.

**PhaseIII:

  – They have weekend liberty and are able leave base Friday after class and do not have to be back until Sunday night. They have to stay within 300 miles of the base if on liberty. If they are on leave there is no mileage limit.

The timing of phasing up may be a little different from instructor to instructor but what is involved with each phase is the same.

If they have weekend watch they have to stay at the barracks except to eat. They are not permitted off base even if they are on Phase 2 or 3 when on weekend watch. When on watch for the weekend they have to stay in uniform even when they are not on watch for their shift.

kkjetz:  Hmmmmm.....not sure on that about skipping Phase 1 at A School...haven't heard it before but maybe so!

lovemynavygirl:  So glad that Lala can get the ribbons to you!  She works very hard on getting ribbons to you all, even last minute!  She has been known to mail them to hotels if need be!  :-)

Comment by lovemynavygirl on February 22, 2014 at 12:46am

Yay, she got back to me. Unfortunately I am too late to get the shirts on time for PIR but the ribbons will be here. I'll still love our awesome shirts and wear later to "brag" about my sailor!

Yes, we really liked the design that she has, two colors of thread one saying US and the second over it saing Navy. Under that it shows Div 096 and then can add another line (saying their name or proud mom etc)

Help please! I screwed up. Ihad planned on buying PIR ribbons, a PIR polo and PIR zip up hoodie from Lala. I asked hubby about it so I could get his color selections and then I forgot until yesterday. I message Lala to her inbox, then later on her page and on FB to find out about turn around time. Is it too late? I don't want to put the order on the website if it can't be done but I haven't received a response. Does anyone know typically how long it takes from order to receipt? Do I need to find somewhere else to order? Thanks for helping me to fix my mess up!
