N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

cupcakegirl14, is your Sailor staying in Great Lakes for A school?  if they are, then there is a delay while they move to their new place, but if they fly out on Saturday, you get to have them immediately..you still get to hug them and be with them at the PIR regardless, but as far as the rest of your day, that depends on their A school

Good Morning Everyone!

Has everyone ordered their PIR ribbons from Lala Ribbon Queen?  Lala has been doing this for about 4 yrs now and makes beautiful ribbons for all family members/friends of the SRs.  If you are interested in seeing them, please look at her pictures on her personal page on here.   You can wait for her to post here, go back and look through the pages for her last post (red background/blue ribbons icon)....or find her under the MEMBERS tab up top.  You can friend request her/message her from there for more info.

For those of you looking for a special gift for your SR-soon-to-be-Sailor, please check out www.pirgifts.com on eBay. They have Challenge Coins, which are a military tradition.  Craig, who is one of the veterans on Navy for Moms, designed the ones that are connected to the ships at RTC.  The name of your SR's ship is right next to the ship number in the Discussion Forum.  When you click on one of the coins, you will be taken to a page where there is a video about Challenge Coins.  This would be a special gift especially connected to their Boot Camp days!  Another really sharp coin is the Core Values one in the section where 70 other coins are available--it has cut outs and a diamond cut beveled edge.  These coins are no longer given out by the Navy to the Sailors, so it is up to friends and family.  I got some as gifts for my Sailor daughter and she thought her USS Hopper (Ship 03) coin was "cool."

Navy2ndMom, The Srs have the opportunity to fix the list here in the next week or two when the final PIR guest list is submitted. The names given when they got to the RTC are just names. :) Be sure to tell your SR how the names need to be listed, making sure the name on the ID match the name he puts on the list, not all "nicknames" are allowed.

For example Kathy will probably work for Katherine, and Tom for Thomas, but Peggy probably won't work for Margret, and Hank probably won't work for James H Jones.

San Antonio, and we are most definitely planning to visit there for a weekend.  Its just that I have his cell phone, clothes, checkbook, all that kind of stuff.  Its only a 6 hour drive to Chicago, and we have family there, only 15 minutes from the base, but hour and half to airport.  Just really need to talk to him again.  Maybe he hasn't changed his form letter and I am still on it.  I just try so hard not to put any more burden or stress on him, as he is plenty full of that.  So I have only said encouraging things in letters and said we would be happy to just meet up at the airport if his parents (all of a sudden) want part of his life.  Poor kid, but he knows how well loved he is on this side. :)
