~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

diannep: thanks for this helpful hint. I'm going to assume this route would take the same amount of time as the shuttle. And does this route take me to the parking garage or a bit further away from where I have to go? I thought I read that someone went the route Sarge recommended and they were put a little further out of the way. I can't make the Meet & Greet as my flight gets in too late. One other question: would you happen to know where the shuttles drop off the visitors?
Froggy: If you decide to drive, here's a hint: On Buckley (main drag to RTC), stay to the left (line of cars going to RTC will be on your right). Bypass RTC and turn around in/near the train station. Come back up Buckley from the opposite way and it is an easy left turn into RTC! A hint that Sarge shares at his MeetandGreet. Since only about 10-15 percent of all SRs in a PIR group are represented here on N4Moms (very sad...), this is a hint that pretty much only you all are privy to! Others elect to park at the train station, which is obviously off base, and walk the 1/4-1/2 mile to RTC. I would think if it is snowy and cold, this second choice may not sound so good! :-)
Ramada has its own shuttle, I know. Most of the other hotels do not have their own...but...the other hotels usually book the area taxis-operating-as-shuttles-that-morning service...that is what we took when up there 4 yrs ago. Sarge and the local service charge the same amount: $3/pp each way. We had no problem picking it back up after PIR was over and our sailor returned on it with us. When you check into your hotel, you usually tell them the time you want to leave and they will put you on the list for that shuttle. Like CatMom, we also left at 6:30 and we were in PIR Hall a few minutes after 7. We would do it that way all over again! Sarge will have a sign up sheet for his at his MeetandGreet the night before PIR.
Can I suggest that one of you start a discussion in the forum above, entitled something like: Carpooling from airports, etc....that way, you can post on there flight arrival times/airports and see if you can group together for Sarge's shuttle...since sharing it saves you lots of money!
If one of you starts this, be sure to post down here that it is up there for others to find! Maybe even post the link here.
Nextstep & CatMom: We rented a car also, but may just leave it at the hotel on PIR day. I think I would rather take a shuttle that gets me in on the property as early as possible instead of sitting behind a line of cars waiting to get through a gate. We won't be in Illinois in time for Sarge's meet and greet, but I will definately consider booking his service anyway for Friday morning. Thanks ladies!!
Froggy,
I had rented a car, but left it at my hotel and had scheduled Sarge's shuttle at the Meet & Greet the night before. He picked us up at 6:30 am, but you can have him get you even earlier, like 6:00 am or 6:15 am. Got us there in 15 mins right up to a different gate than the ones that the cars enter RTC.at. Walk about 50 yards to the entrance to the graduation hall and checked in through there against the access list. Don't forget your ids!! Sarge's is actually a taxi/shuttle service that uses mini-vans. His number is 847-212-0246.
If your hotel does have a shuttle, you can take that instead. The charge should be $3 per person each way also. Not all hotels have their own shuttles, but Sarge can service all the hotels too. Don't forget to leave a tip for excellent service~~
All the shuttles are in the lot to the right of the NEX for you to take back to your hotel. There are other shuttles there too, so if you want a Sarge shuttle, make sure you ask.
I am looking for my wives Bunkmate, 14-091 name starts with Ca. Ros. send me a private massage.
