~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Ship 13 Div 94 - Just got a phone call!! he said that he missed his call yesterday and he will call again on Wednesday! He said that his division is still having a hard time coming together, so pray for that and he passed his baseline PFA and his Swim test, he was worried about his swim test before he left, so he was thankful that went well..he was on Light Duty Days for about 5 days due to blood pressure, so he is thankful that he is back on track! He said that they don't run enough for him, that was his stress reliever, so I'm sure he misses that, he loved getting all his mail and he really sounded so great!! I can't wait until Wednesday when we have a little longer than 4 minutes to talk!!

Does anyone have information on being in, what I think he called, a Staff div.  I received a phone call Sunday--Yipee--but he also wanted to talk to his gf, so I didn't get as much info. as I would like.  He made it sound as if he will not be walking at graduation but working??

Final thought:  LizziesHusband.  Your SR has plenty of time here...try not to worry...they even sometimes have study groups to help each other study.  They will be encouraging her/pushing her.  So keep the faith!

Sounds like Ship 3 Div 096 is starting to pull together as a team!  My daughter said she slowed up her run so she could run in the back with someone who was struggling to keep up - which makes me doubly proud, but she needs to pass that PFT herself.  ;-) I hope our 2/28 SRs are all successful and from here on out and EVERYONE graduates and gets to perform in the PIR!  I've had 2 calls from my daughter - last Sunday around 5P and yesterday between 8-9P.  I'm getting spoiled!  ;-)) I can't wait til Thursday - hoping there is another big fat envelope from her. Next week may be different as she is getting the wisdom teeth out under sedation this Wednesday. Sunday is a special day for her (I'm not allowed to mention it - per her request) so I really hope I get a call. I want her to know I'm thinking about her especially hard on these two days. ;-))

The protocol is this:  If a SR has not passed all tests by their BattleStations day, they will call you and tell you not to come to graduation, they aren't going to graduate.  Now, they still get chances to pass these tests so don't give up on them.  Keep travel plans if you can for now.  However, most have to be passed by Wed before their PIR date.  If you received the "don't come to PIR" call, you should not go unless you receive a another call from your SR/sailor.  Sadly this call can sometimes come pretty late...it actually came at about 6 pm the night before PIR for one mom.  Since they lived 6 hours away, they jumped in the car and were there for PIR, but others may not have had that situation.

One thing to remember is that your loved one's first responsibility now is to the Navy.  The Navy treats them that way.  Their schedules and procedures come first; family will have to "fit in" to that.  I know it is very stressful for all when SRs get to PIR week and have not passed something.  Some on here will get a wonderful phone call after that, saying they did it....come to PIR.  Others will hear nothing more from their SR....some of those people have taken a chance and gone to PIR even after receiving the "don't come to PIR" call and nothing else....in those cases, they are not even allowed to see their SR, so it is a waste of time/money.  Others had to cancel travel plans by a certain date or lose money, only to get the call from their now SAILOR the day before PIR...very sad that the family will not be there now for their new sailor because they had to cancel their plans.  But what can they do?

I have seen it over and over again on this site in the 4 yrs I have been on.  Excitement for some; devastation for others.  But just keep in mind....although some may miss having a PIR and you won't see them, they are still kept in training to keep trying...and many of them eventually become sailors.

So fingers crossed and prayers that everyone gets through their tests in a timely manner in this PIR group!

Thank you diannep.

LizziesHusband:  You do not have to worry about the BattleStations redo...they make sure they get it done before PIR and they pass.  One person who used to work at RTC told me that they do their own redos if there is not another group going through BattleStations....all this to say, that once your SR passes their final PFA (fitness), they should get through and be at PIR.

Yes it was academic. She said she feel asleep as she is the dental yomen and has been up late. When I talked to her last night she said some other females would help to ensure she got to sleep.

Lizzieshusband, I think it depends on what she failed, from what I understand, some things they get to take over until they pass, like the swim test..was it academic? Sorry for the stress!
