OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

RAZM:  Glasses, yes (can't wear them until PIR though---has to wear Navy-issued ones), but cell phone, no.  That has to be mailed home.  Some have tried to sneak the phones and keep them there...big trouble if they get caught.  There is still lots of time for you to receive the box...sometimes it can take up to 2-3 weeks to receive.

I received "the letter with PIR information". I have not received a box with personal belongings.  I know my son was planning on donating clothes.

He still had his cell phone and personal glasses.  Does anyone know if by chance maybe RTC allowed him to keep his glasses and cell phone locked up in a locker with his wallet?

LizziesHusband,

Hope you've planned something enjoyable to celebrate your birthday!!  Please don't sit around the house and wish your wife was around~~  I know she will definitely be thinking of you, but she will do what she needs to do.  Have a happy day as you can--do you have good family and friends to have good-natured fun with??  Please treat yourself~~

This is the first time I have been away from my wife for more than 1 week. Plus tomorrow is my birthday, first time being apart for a celebration. I am only writing her good things but, some days it is like waking up and falling off a canyon.

I went through this last year with my daughter. That was difficult enough to send my baby girl off into the big world. Thiis time was harder yet. He's my youngest. I've been a blubbering fool since he left. You'd have thought I would have learned the first time around.
