Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Question: Where do they stay if they fly out on Sunday?

Cupcake:  THAT is what we love to hear...that you will Pay It Forward!  Remember, there are not only the PIR groups where you could help, but the BootCamp Moms group and even the DEP groups on here.  All appreciate whatever info you can share once a N4Moms veteran!

Don't forget you can stay in this group after PIR and keep posting. Let each other know how your sailors are doing, and where they end up in the fleet. There are also groups on this site for ships, schools, ratings. etc.

I would also like to thank everyone in the group. What a blessing to have found such comfort and help. Can't wait to meet some of you very soon. Though it can't get here quick enough for me :-)

Froggy:  You are very welcome!  We love helping you all!

I would like to ask you all to please post on this page after PIR and let us know if our info was correct, what changes there may have been, what your experiences were.  Remember, we get our info from you all...so we want to keep it accurate!  Thanks!

Good Morning All, such an exciting day for our SRs.  I'm on pins and needles already and will be this way until I receive my call tomorrow.  Before things get too crazy on here I want to take a minute to thank diannep, lala ribbon queen, catmom and ellen for all they have done to help all of us during the last two months.  My mind was a complete slushie until I started reading and joining various pages on this website.  Every question asked was answered and every thought shared by one was found to be shared by many.  I'm going to miss this "virtual" support group, the first of many I will find myself in over the next five years, and I just wanted to thank our group veteran members and thank everyone else for blogging in and sharing their stories with all of us.  Go Navy!!!

Good morning!  I was talking to my friend yesterday & her son who was in the Navy just a few years ago.  I asked him about the ribbons our SR's will wear on their uniforms at PIR.  He told me that one was a ribbon they all get for serving during a "Post 911" He said they call it a "Mustard stain"  So, I guessing its yellow.. lol.  The other could e for marksmanship.  PIR is coming real soon now, prayers for all the SR"s as they go through their final PFA's & BS!!!
