N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Ellen052- that is crazy!! Just means she has much more "wisdom" than any of us cause she kept them so long!! How cool that she's in record books!!

Just putting this idea out there for your group.  It is totally voluntary.  Some of our past PIR groups have gotten together and put together State themed gift baskets/boxes/bags or really, any great idea would work, to be raffled off at Sarge's Meet & Greet on the Thursday evening before PIR.  This is great fun and would help offset the costs of Sarge and his wife as they do these meet and greets every week to help our Navy families.  If someone would like to start a Basket Project for this group, please let Sarge know and start a discussion up in the Discussion Forum for the ladies here to pop into to express their interest~~  Thank you~

Your Division Discussions have been posted up above. Please use them to get to know each other even better on a "Divisional" basis...BUT remember that you all have the same PIR date and many of you will be attending the same Meet and Greets...so please continue to post on the Main Wall here.

Also, please continue to post your questions for us "veteran moms" on the Main Wall here. We can have 7-8 active PIR groups going at one time..that's 70-90 Divisions! We try to get to the Division Discussions but with that many it is difficult! We don't want to miss any questions as ALL are important...no dumb ones...for many of you this is your first servicemember and we want to be there to help and lend support.

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC apply to the Discussion Forum area as well. The Division Discussions are viewable to all...just like the Main Wall here.

Please do not start new Division Discussions.

The Discussion Forum area is set to show titles only and is set at ten titles at a time for now. (This can be adjusted by the group creator or an administrator)

It is also set to show the "latest activity" (there are other settings). So whatever has just had a reply added to it will "bump" that Discussion to the top. The discussion will stay up there at the top because it has had "activity"…until the next Discussion has activity. If there are over ten discussions, whatever is at the bottom will disappear from view…but not from the Discussion Forum. So, if you want to see more, click "view all" at the bottom right hand corner of the discussion forum area. It is right up there above the Blue Comment Wall bar.

To "bump" up a discussion to the first spot of the DF area when you don't really want to add a reply...in other words someone is looking for it...just type whatever you want in the reply box and click "add reply". I just type one letter or even a period and add the reply.

When you view a DF by clicking on the title, the first post ever made will be the first one on the first page. To get to the most current reply, click “Last Reply” directly underneath that particular Discussion.

~You will also notice that in the top right corner in any post that you do you will see an "x". This is so you may delete your post if you need too. You will also see the “x” on any post you make anywhere else on the site.

Good evening late nighters. :) I am going to post your division discussions. Please refrain from posting in the discussion groups until I am finished. If I make an error and have to delete something, your post will disappear into cyber space. :)

I just had my mom to the dentist last week for a horrible tooth ache, she is just shy of 84 years old. She thought she had a cavity, much to her surprise, my surprise, and the dentists surprise she has a wisdom tooth that has now decided to make an appearance. LOL The Dr. now has her in his record book for his oldest patient with a wisdom tooth problem. Yep, they take them if there is any hint of difficulty in the future.

Comment by diannep on January 20, 2014 at 12:34am

Wisdom teeth are only pulled if they feel they can cause a problem in the future when they could be on deployment.  But like Dtib mentioned, sometimes they will "watch" some in A School and make a decision then.  It is a very routine surgery at Bootcamp and they are given some SIQ days to recover.

Philipeach & diannep: thank you so much!! Good to know I'm not losing my mind! ;-) I'll keep an eye on things and see how they turn out!
Yamanels: mine didn't have his wisdom teeth out either, only if they are starting to come in. The dentist at RTC did suggest he get one that's sideways out during A school. I think it may depend on how hard they are to get out also.

Debbie my son is also Ship 13 Div 094. My husband thinks he missed my son's call yesterday because he got a call on his cell from Illinois but we were in a class. I was pretty upset we missed the call and he didn't leave a message so. I hope he's not too home sick. I sure miss him!
