Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Good morning!! Tay- that has to be heart breaking, but keep your chin up!

Dianne- My son said that he paid for his stuff with his account and that he should've gotten paid on the 15th... I checked his account and there has been no activity since he left. Is it possible they have the wrong account info? How do I bring this up in a letter without causing major panic? Or can I contact the local NF branch and have them check this? I'm on his account so they will give me information, just not sure they would have it.

Good Morning!

Hang in there, tay....many are emotional in those early calls.  Pray hard and know that emotionally it is very difficult for them to be separated from all whom they love....but they want them to focus and get the job done!  Think of watching him at PIR....you will be so very proud of him!  The best is yet to come!

I agree with Kelley....once they can write and receive letters from family, it makes a huge difference!  Try to write each and every day!  Mail is so vlery important to them!

Best to copy/scan piks on the back of your letters or separate sheet than to send actual pictures.  Limited storage space for them up there and the thickness of the envelope would make them have to open their mail in front of their RDCs.  None want to have to do this!

Tay2sims, sorry! It will get better when he gets mail, and puctures..he can write toomorrow too, that will help..plus he has been holding all that in, I'm sure the sound of your voice just brought that out, but I'm sure you were a great encouragement too, he will be fine!

So exciting that so many of us got calls! We weren't expecting one for at least another week! They must be doing really well!

Tears flowing here tonight.  Saw that everyone was getting calls, so I was waiting in anticipation.  My son decided to call his girlfriend first, and ran out of time.  So, I got a call from his girlfriend.  :(    Really wanted to hear his voice.  Hopefully the next call won't be too far away!
