Well - it's been a loooong time since I've been on this site.  It's now nearly 3 years since our Sailors all finished RTC - hard to believe - it's gone by so fast.  Our son is in Kuwait on his second deployment there.  He'll be gone over Christmas - he was actually home the past 2, so this is the first one since boot camp that he hasn't been with us.  Where are all your Sailors now?  gh

Hey all you Jan 2 PIR parents! Remember what we were doing 2 years ago tonight?

All - it's strange to read all your posts now - I haven't been on this group in months. Reading all your notes ... your sailors are now scattered all over the place. Our son started boot camp on 4 November, graduated on 2 Jan and is still in Great Lakes! He finished Gunnery school out there on 31 July and is waiting for his orders. He can't take leave until they come through of course.... We moved to Virginia when he left for boot camp and he's never been here - hasn't seen our house or anything else. Can't wait to get him home for a week! Glen

Hey Parents: Check this out. The pub that hosted Div 907 on Christmas Day posted DOZENS of great pictures of all our kids. Note that the site has multiple pages - see page numbers at bottom. There are over 200 photos on here....

Ladies - I believe this is the correct address -
Berwyn VFW, 1529 Harlem Ave. Berwyn, IL 60402. This is the VFW referenced in the CBS news clip on 12/25/08.

Purple Pig is right about the first video - the news anchor is a white male - it's dated 2007. In that video the male recruits are wearing long-sleeved black shirts - Dan told me they were wearing khaki shirts and black pants - the new service uniform I believe. So the first of the three links is an old one. Dang - there was a kid in there that looked EXACTLY like our son. He's his genetic twin. They were at Ravenswood though as the other video is dated 2008 and shows kids wearing khaki shirts at that pub.

OK, parents. If your son or daughter were hosted by the Ravenswood Pub on Christmas, here's the info to send a thank you card to the owners. I just talked to an employee there and the owners aren't there, but he said they would really appreciate a note and would put them up on the wall in the restaurant. Send cards to: Ken and Leisa Hancock, Ravenswood Pub, 5455 North Ravenswood, Chicago, IL 60640. gh

Dan (907) called around 615 eastern tonight. He too said Captain's Cup was done and they got some unexpected phone privileges. He confirmed it was Ravenswood Pub they had dinner at on Christmas. Danny told us the owners, Ken and Leisa Hancock (according to the newscast) took pictures of ALL the kids and were going to try to send them to parents! God knows how they're going to do that. I want to get the phone number and put it on here - I want to call them and thank them for their generosity to our kids! Glen

Ladies - I found another link for a different video from the VFW but also from Ravenswood Pub - a business that hosted a bunch of kids. Danny called us saying they had a great dinner at "a pub" - I'm betting it was this one. This is great video of a different group of kids. Dan is in Division 907. Here it is:

PND - We will have pix from 1/2 PIR. I'm taking video too, but I'm too much of a dunce to figure out how to load it on the computer. I'll put the pix up asap after the event and I'll try to catch the Recruit band brass section! Glen
