DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Ladies (do any of your husbands follow this site or am I the only one)? - here's the address for Flanigan's: 3201 Buckley Rd, North Chicago, IL; Tel: (847) 689-9062. Sheila - we're staying at the Residence as are Mark and Sally Z (Mike's parents) I believe....and some others but I didn't write down their names. Glen

Judy - I'm picturing you in a grocery store, ripping stacked cans of food and piles of produce off the shelves screaming for your phone. Across the bottom of the screen scrolls a caption...."Navy Mom". :)

When we sent to MEPS on Nov 3 in Albany NY to see our son sworn in there were two young women there heading for Great Lakes with our son Dan and his friend Mike. The one poor girl seemed so nervous - I felt so bad for her and have said some prayers for her, especially in the early days of boot camp. She seemed a little overwhelmed. If you had a daughter there that day send me a message in this tool and I'll describe her. I'd love to know how she is doing. I think she said she was going to be a corpsman. Glen

Mary - type it in the search box (or any other terms you don't understand) and you'll find it. Ricky Heaven is slang for the recruit "lounge" area at the Navy exchange in GL. Evidently it's got a Tacobell, video games, phones, etc and recruits get to go there if the earn the privilege. They do go after they successfully complete Battlestations.

Kristina - I'm glad your son has been able to recover! That sounds like quite a trial to endure. Let us know as soon as you have his new division number.

Thanks for the info on payday and also the weapons training. My husband is always trying to figure out where they are in there training. We also got 3 letters this past saturday, but yet to receive a phone call, we never even got a safe arrival call so we are anxious to hear his voice.
