For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

One thing I noticed is this:

"Recruits must remain in uniform at all times in public."

Has been changed too:

"Recruits must remain in uniform at all times."

So, it is looking like no civilian clothes are allowed at all.

The Guide has gone from 6 pages to three...bare bones basics. THERE IS NOTHING DRASTIC SO FAR IN THE CHANGES THAT I HAVE SEEN...JUST SIMPLE THINGS LIKE THE ABOVE.

They got rid of the term Grad n Go several months back and went to Friday and Saturday Departures...now THAT is gone too. There is NO title and they just talk about Departing Recruit Training Command after PAss-in-Review and explain the diferences.

I will be updating my posts later today and I will also be printing up copies of the old and new to compare the changes in info. I will do the posts and links first...the link to the old Family Guide does not work.

Then a text from my ex-husband saying he got three!! I got a call from my husband saying I got a letter!!!! it was very upbeat she loves marching! and her Camo's. I guess I need to reserve our room for graduation. I hope her boy friend gets a letter today he was pretty upset yesterday. I know how he felt.Have a safe day today and I hope you all hear from your child today...

I'm probably going alone.. that's why I'm waiting to see who he put on the list but I would love to stay where a lot of you guys are staying so I'm not really alone! let me know?? =)

he was saying something about a 12 day work program after boot camp.. I know you can do that as a leave taken but can you really do that RIGHT after boot camp? Just doesn't make sense to me... ?

Do what you can to make reservations that can be changed or cancelled as information changes. But go ahead and make your reservations. As for where he goes after BC. . . that depends on what he'll be doing in the Navy. Ask him in one of your letters. Chances are he knows. Breathe. . . breathe. . . We can do this!

Comment by ColoradoMom Nuke ET on January 28, 2012 at 12:40am: barbsz - Don't worry. There are still a few weeks before that list has to be finalized. There is time to get you on the list. And, even if he didn't get the message to make sure you are on the list, you should have no trouble getting into PIR. RTC has said repeatedly in their facebook page that there is really only a problem for extra guests when the PIRs have a lot of divisions. The 3/2 PIR is a nice medium 9 divisions. No worries!
