For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I also want to say, I am very thankful for each and everyone of you. It's nice to know that we all feel pretty much the same way.

That is awesome you were able to do that with Disney World. I try to find the deals but I am the one that ends up paying more then finding the deal!! lol

Comment by diannep on January 22, 2012 at 2:17pm: HAAAA, lesliet! Yep, that's men for ya! Why don't they just recognize us women for the geniuses we are??? HA! Especially when it comes to planning.

I was the "travel agent" in my family....loved planning our getaways when boys were young...and I'll never forget when my hubby told me what a good job I did planning (I'm very frugal so would start planning a few months ahead of time, get discounts, etc). We live only about 3 hrs from Disney World so would head up there right before Christmas each year just for a couple of days. I would get a discounted hotel (would stay at a Days Suites w/kitchen, Murphy bed in living room, and huge bedroom with 2 queens for $49/night...one time, $39/night), AAA discounted park tickets, and then we found a buffet all-you-can-eat restaurant near our hotel, would eat dinner there and get free coupons for breakfast the next day. We seemed to enjoy it more paying the cheaper prices! :-)

Anyway, totally understand why you picked Midway. AND, actually a couple of people in the past told me that from their home airport, it was more expensive to fly into Milwaukee than Midway, so it isn't always cheaper, but many times is.

My husband was bent on leaving Saturday late afternoon so I was afraid to book it outside of Chicago. I am so hoping my son will fly out of Midway!! If not, I am thankful for the no change fees!! That was one reason we went with them because we could change it any time if something happened and he got delayed or if we wanted to go ahead and stay til Sunday. I kept telling him I would prefer to stay til Sunday so we didn't have to worry about it but he was settled on making it Saturday!:/ Then after we get it all set up and paid for, a little bit later said, maybe we should have gone ahead and made plans to stay thru Sunday!!! I am about to pull my hair out!! lol I know we can change it with no problem now;)

Hope all look into SW airlines, like lesliet mentioned. No change fee, first 2 bags checked for free. Check out flying into Milwaukee rather than Chicago-Midway. Many times it is cheaper and a 45 minute straight interstate no-traffic drive to GL.
