BEARSmom:  The definition of a striker that I found was:

an enlisted person in usually intensive training for a naval technical rating.

I don't think this would effect his E-2 level.  Maybe just his job.  Just my uneducated opinion!

barbsz:  So glad you are on the list and on your way!  So sorry you missed the calls....  :-(

Ladies, safe travel and ENJOY this phenomenal time with your new sailors!  HOOYAH!  Congrats to PIR 03/02/2012!

We arrived last night. Sarge picked us up. What a great guy! For those going to his meet and greet...he and his drivers do this out of their own pockets. When you thank Sarge for doing this for us, why not have some $$ in your hand to give him so they can keep this up. See y'all tonight.

For most of you, this is a travel day, AND you may be going to Meet & Greets (I hope so!!). Make those face to face connections, have fun, bond with your N4M friends . . . but get to bed! You want to be at RTC early, early, early!!!!! Tomorrow will feel like one of those "BEST. DAY. EVER!" type days. Here's a couple of thoughts for you . . .

--Be "present" in the moment. When you're with your Sailor, let everything else fall away for the day.

--They probably will NOT want pizza! They had some serious gorging on pizza one or more nights this week.(he he he he)

--There are nearby places which will "treat" your Sailor to a meal. (SARGE is a good resource; we went to a small Italian place in Libertyville--very close).

--THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT, even if it only applies to a couple of you: If your family is one where some attendees have conflict with each other, call a truce for the day! Be the generous soul who is kind and gracious. This is your SAILOR's day. Let it be memorable for all the right reasons!

--Finally, make memories, take pictures, and get your HUGS in.

I'm so excited for you, and it has been a pleasure to share this journey. HOO-YAH! (and OOO-RAH!)

FTWL~~~~~ I have a question. My sailor ( I LOVE BEING ABLE TO SAY THAT NOW!!!! ) son said that because of his back that they took away his rate from Airman Apprentice to Striker. WHAT is that and WHAT does that mean? Did that mean that instead of being an E2, he was bumped down to an E1? He said that he would be there for a couple of weeks more. What does that entail? Can I give him his graduation gift of a laptop? And his cell phone?

Thanks so much!!!
