@Lala Sounds like a plan.Thanks alot!
Lala, I love the visual, lol.
Good Morning ladies, I'm Betsy and another veteran on here. Welcome to our Navy family. My youngest son is in Pensacola currently on hold for Orders. He is a CTT. We also have a soon-to-be son-in-law who is an ET stationed in Hawaii. My daughter also is there with him. I will be kinda MIA today, due to the Raven's football game, but will be back tomorrow. Have a great Sunday!
Do what I did at the movie when my daughter was there, sit on an end seat, as near the door as possible, put your phone on vibrate and lay it on your upper chest tucked under your bra strap lol. If it vibrates look an see who it is and if it's possibly your recruit answer the phone and head for the door :-)
Good Morning Wonderful Moms....I see some have gotten phone calls and I am hoping I get one. I was planning on going to see a movie this afternoon but I am afraid I may miss a call. I know I should live life as normal, but I don't want to miss this call!
And, yes, Ruth is correct. You can mail contacs for PIR. They just can't wear them until then. Please send a SMALL amount of solution, not the entire bottle. Also, label on the outside of the envelope: Contacs/solution for PIR
We recommend that you NOT send these until your SR asks for them (you may suggest it and then let them confirm).
Ok, Ruth and I were posting at the same time with the same info! HA! Sorry Ruth! :-)
doreen: Use Sarge 847-212-0246 for your transportation. He also takes to/from airport and charges by the car, so if you have a couple of people, you may be able to share his cab with someone on here.
The colored envelope issue is not a problem in every division, but some divisions will haze a bit if there are colored envelopes. So we always recommend plain white envelopes...you don't want to call attention to the mail...
doreen@ many of the families that stayed had Sarge pick them up at the airport. He was very reasonable. Driving in Chicago is crazy.
I sent some colored envelopes (cards), but depending on their RDC's, the recruits like to draw as little attention to themselves as possible. If they recieve bulky envelopes, they may have to open them in front of thier RDC.
My daughter also told me that there was a gum wraper found in the boys house and all the boys had to do PT. Apparently someone was sent a piece of gum and didn't dispose of the evidence very well.
For all of you with with female SR's, you may be getting a request to send items right after battle stations. We sent her tweezers, a straightener, and mascara. If they request them, they can have them then for graduation. I believe contact wearers can also recieve those too.
I totally forgot about taking the train to downtown Chicago. This would be much easier than trying to navigate the streets of Chicago. How are you recommending everyone get from O'Hare to their hotels?
Jamie - scrapbooking - I got a lot done yesterday. I think for my SR's book I will just save letters, pictures from PIR, etc. This way he will have a record of his Navy career. Being a boy he wouldn't do this himself. LOL Someday he will appreciate it. My projects now is a book of all professional pictures of each of my three kids. I started this too late to do all their pictures, so I have stuck with this and vacations. Now the Navy book will be a ongoing project. These 12 hour scrapbooking days have been a lot of fun and we all got alot done.
Well, the best part of yesterday was that we got our second phone call. He was allowed a 30 minute phone call. He sounded really good. Seems okay with everything so far. I feel so much better now that I have been able to talk to him and I know he is alright. They don't have their mail person yet so he hasn't received my letters, yet. I tried not to talk about anything in my letters so it wouldn't be worthless to read them. Why shouldn't we use colored envelopes? I did so I hope this isn't a problem.
Did anyone else get a phone call?
